A Plague Tale: Requiem

Not the worst but definitely not good

I am a big fan of Innocence, and have replayed it many times. So I was really excited for Requiem, and immediately was disappointed to find out that the story continued so closely from Innocence. I would have liked to see a more mature/wise/patient Amicia and Hugo. Also, so Hugo could really come into his power, as the ending of Innocence showed what he was capable of. But alas, that wasn't my biggest issue with this game. No, it was the muddled and too fast-paced story, with the weird and unnecessary "twists" and the huge focus on action instead of furthering the plot/story itself. The story jumped from place to place, and felt like a too long of a sequence of fight and flight. No time to get your bearings and while solving puzzles, finding more out about the Macula, how to help Hugo etc. (as we had in Innocence). The twists were even worse, people switched randomly from allies to enemies (and the other way around). At some point I wanted to be done with the game, and wished, with each chapter ending, that it was the actual ending. The action filled chapters and the difficulty of fighting with the new controls made this even worse. The ending was haunting and beautiful, and this is why I give it 1 star more than it deserves. I won't be replaying this nightmare of a game anytime soon..

Remothered: Tormented Fathers

Not too bad, but not great either

If you REALLY like stealth and find the plot less important, this is the game for you. And while I am not particularly that aversive to stealth, it should be in balance with the plot. And I missed that here. While the terror/horror was done well (my heart was beating so fast during some scenes, with shaky hands afterward), unfortunately the stealth during 90% of the game made the gameplay too slow and less intriguing than it could have been. I still am not sure whether I get the full story. But, I am definitely sure I wouldn't have gotten to finish the game without the walkthrough. Most of the actions you needed to do, seemed quite random and without a walkthrough I wouldn't have finished in a long time. I won't be buying the sequel.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

I love it every time

Even after finishing the game and the DLC's a second time, I haven't got enough of this game. It's beautifully made, the story feels real, and you will be challenged by every decision you have to make. Even if you don't know the (full) Witcher books/series, you will enjoy this game! :)

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Love this, it's one of my favorites now!

I was in a dark place myself when I played this, but was immediately intrigued by it. I love the story, the characters, the gameplay, the tangible anguish and other feelings etc. (I could go on a very long list here.). The mental health aspect of the game is done very well. I hadn't encountered a game in which you can immerse yourself this deeply in the psychology of a character. Even as a mental health professional, you can only guess or imagine how a patient experiences mental health issues, but this game did it perfectly. I will play this again (and again) and look forward to the second part.

The Medium

Overall good horror but unfinished story

The gameplay overall made me sit on the edge of my seat, walk around carefully (crouching all the way) and watching for flickering lights. So the horror effect was done well. The camera perspective together with the controls was sometimes irritating, but I could work with it. Although I finished the game, unfortunately I was left wondering whether I got all the details (right). I have so many questions, and none of it is about the ending. The story feels fragmented and not linear somehow. Because the story doesn't feel whole for me yet, or I didn't connect to it emotionally, finishing the game felt like meh. Like I could shrug it off and go play another game right after. Which is why I think it deserves four stars at maximum, and not five.

Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper

Definitely not what I expected

I couldn't immerse myself in the story because there were too many puzzles. I understand that with Sherloch Holmes you can expect many puzzles, but with this game the story and the tension got sacrificed for it. Which is a pity, as the combination of Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper made me quite exciting for playing it. Now I am skeptical to start playing the other Sherlock games...

Still Life 2

I did like the beginning of the game

I only give it three stars because of the beginning of the game, which was tense and exciting. The second half just dragged on and dwindled off story wise, which was a pity. They did manage to connect both games but couldn't give it the ending it deserved.

The Council

Good experience

I had fun playing this game but unfortunately I had a correct hunch about most of the mysterieus stuff, which made the game less mysterious than I would've liked. Overall good experience but could've been better. I like the different characters and how they were related to/interactive with each other. Good character development(s).

Dracula: Love Kills

Play it when you're hardcore for puzzles

It got stuck so many times on me, I had to play again from the last save. Still don't know what caused it. The story is okay, fun puzzles but sometimes too many. Probably the reason why I didn't connect much to the story, it felt hasty and superficial.

Dracula Origin

A battle against time

Nice puzzle solving game, I would've liked more backstory in it. It made me curious for the follow-up game Love kills.
