Fallout: London

Great MOD but unplayable

Incredible idea, effort and writing but virtually unplayable. Terminals are shown too far away to make most the text unreadable. When leaving terminals, more often then not you'll be stuck in place requiring you to reload a previous save. Water is over-irradiated. Two seconds and you're dead, which is immersion-breaking but also incredibly frustrating as particularly at night the texture is virtually identical to dirt. You touch it briefly, you're half dead and need to reload a save. It also leads to getting stuck in locations where you can hit save traps and death loops meaning it's vital to make very frequent manual saves. To be fair thanks to over-cluttered levels you can get stuck in almost any part of the map. To make matters worse the level design will hint that you climb some rubble and occasionally reward you with loot to do it so you're encouraged to get yourself trapped in the scenery. I've only completed a handful of missions so far and been hit with breaking bugs about 50% of the time. Some of the leeches in Thameshaven spawned in the ground so I couldn't kill them and complete the quest (made worse because you need to complete the quest to lose a 30% damage taken debuf). Later crossing on the boat, it got stuck which left me on a stationary boat in the previously mentioned death water. Reloading just dumped me straight in the water with no boat. The game idea is amazing, the writing already looks levels above Fallout 4 and clearly so much love and effort has gone into the project. I'm genuinely gutted that I'm on my third or fourth attempt to play game but just rage quit after a few hours because most of my time is spent reloading saves to do the same thing multiple times but avoiding bugs.

Disappointment

I bought this game brand new to terrible reviews believing that I would see something in it that others had clearly overlooked. I was happy to go without all the flashy 3D screens and work from the 2D overview. The problem if I remember was that you interact with the world by getting your agents to sway areas to your side and managing the cost of those actions while your opponents try to do the same to you. This will often lead into stalemate where you can't afford to be idle while your opponents claim territory but equally don't have the resources to develop a long term solution. You end up coming to the conclusion that the last couple of hours of effort is wasted and you'll have to hope you have a save game to go back to try again from.
