-Expectations- The first time I saw this game I was immediately curious. The time it is set in, the atmosphere and the game mechanics all caught my attention. However, money spend is money spend, so I looked at other reviews. A lot of people complain about a game breaking bug, bad lip sync and an ending that is questionable at best. -The Game itself- Sadly, it is not possible to change the graphic settings of this game, aside from the resolution. However, this does not cause any problems performance wise. The characters in the game can be a bit dull and predictable, but are nonetheless amusing enough. Each character has a section with information about them and even though the game encourages the player to learn more about the characters, the information on them never updates. That's a shame. The story is an interesting one. During the first 3 chapters you are wondering where the story is going to go and where it will end. During these chapters the game uses a lot of content from the Bible. From Psalms to paintings with Biblical themes. It fits the game perfectly. In the 4th chapter things take a slightly different turn. Without spoiling anything for people who want to give this game a shot; I can understand why this chapter ruined the game for some people. It didn't for me. It gave me a somewhat Alice in Wonderland Madness Returns vibe. I was fine with that, maybe I even loved it. I have to say, however, that the ending of the game is rushed and does not really fit the somewhat slow pace of the rest of the game. Every choice you make DOES matter, which means that this game is worth playing a second or even a third time. I took my time with this game and finished it in about 22 hours. For the complaints I read before playing. The lip sync in my game was perfectly fine and I didn't encounter any game breaking bug. I would definitely recommend this game for someone who is looking for a fun game with puzzles and an interessting take on a darker story.
Thronebreaker is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. The combination of Gwent and a very well executed story make for a wonderful experience. The art in the game is beautiful and unlike so many games I did have the feeling that the choices I made did effect my game. There is so much love and dedication put in this game and you can really feel that. It took me 40 hours to complete the game and I absolutely would recommend everyone this experience.
