Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Limited gun fight system & Linearity

Others mentioned the good parts. If you like linear visual novels and cut-scenes, this is for you. And you have to like a gun fight system which doesn't give you much freedom for tactics or even movement.

The Surge

I like it!

Nice SiFi Hack and Slay. I still miss a sniper gun after a few hours in the game, but it is fun to play. Dying puts you back to medbay, but you have a bit over two minutes to get your dropped stuff. Enemies reappearing after you were in the medbay is a con and pro at the same time, depending on your viewpoint, it reminds me of Borderlands where the same thing happens - though it is a bit tedious in Borderlands while The Surge opens shortcuts when playing through a level, making the route to your package shorter and allows skipping areas. There is no strategy though, so it is good to get down after work. Got the Augmented edition though. Right when it came out, a day before GOG sent the "The Surge is avail on GOG now!" newsletter ;).

Sudden Strike 4

Play if you want tactics over rush

If you love to rush this game is not for you. I you love to take your time with tactics this is one for you. If you have a few infantry snipers you can take down the crew of some vehicles and claim them yours. Same goes for getting movable cannons, and then use them against the enemy. Take fast troops to provoke and lead them to your ambush. Or bombard them when other troops scout the area. Forests and fields give tactical advantage to your infantry which can hide there, allowing hit-and-run tactics without loosing troops. The only negative: Don't think you can play those missions quick. If you are not forced to be quick by the way the mission was made scout. Lay a landmine in the way of patrolling cars or tanks. Take your time. No need for Blitzkrieg when it doesn't give you an advantage.

Helium Rain

Like old Elite, without instant pirates

Got a stressful day? Get this little gem. My only hint: Get a docking computer, they are cheap. You are not hunted, the tutorial is well made and does not push you to do instantly what the tutorial says, you can safely ignore it until you feel the next step has to be done. Just trade along, get a bigger ship, get money with passengers and so on. I didn't have a fight yet, but I just played for about 5 hours for now. Ship control is good, the general usability of the game is good as well. No crash either, works in 8k too. Nearly nothing to complain about, which is rare for a player from south-west Germany. My complain? More Anti-Alias options, but you can override that with nvidia inspector or the control panel. That is all.

Serial Cleaner

Quite simple and fun.

The game is relaxing. Hard work, stress, and then this nice little gem in the evening gets your mind off. Be sure to apply the "stuck ad loading screen" fix at support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004196185-Serial-Cleaner

Don't try running on a Laptop

I have my work Laptop, being somewhere "not at home". Want to use my time on something good. But I cannot even get beyond the tutorial, since it REQUIRES you to scroll the mose wheel, it REQUIRES you to click the mousehweel and then move around. No skip buttons anywhere. Not everyone carries around an extra mouse. Not very well thought out usability. The game works fine if you have a mouse wheel, maybe I'll change my rating later.

Homeworld: Emergence

Still the best Homeworld game

This was the first Homeworld game I played. Great story, great graphics. No other game up to now can give this "lost in endless space" feeling you cen get here. The soundtrack is amazing and adds to that feeling. For me the best in the series. I have the CD here, so as long as GOG doesn't talk about improvements over the original (Ultra HD anywhere? or at least 1920x1080?)... Sadly this one does not work with nglide, else I'd have my Ultra HD...

EVERSPACE™

Nice fights and good graphics and sound.

Well, it is missing a bit content yet, for obvious reasons. You fly around, get attacked by outlaws and aliens, harvest fuel, ore and leftover from killed outlaws. It has a very good playing feel, the controls are well done. I would love a few more pixel as center-deadzone to make aiming easier without steering the ship. The graphics are very good, the sound is good too. And the nice comments from the ship computer fit well into the action. If you want to watch the gameplay in Ultra HD: https://youtu.be/IfbHK-DdonA
