Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Very well done!

A rare case of a game very well done in all points. No crash, good GFX, great control, great gameplay, lots of side quests and so on. DLC recommended too. Grab it when at a sale, even though it is worth the normal price. Hint 1: Those closed little boxes with a lock: You can smash them open with a hammer or bigger. Hint 2 for Vatican: The fountain with the gargoyle riddles, if you do the final one it is the exit of that level, so wait until you finished as most as possible from the other things. (You can come back later, but I've not played to far yet) Hint 3 for PC Master race: You can backup your save game and settings in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\MachineGames

System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

Well done!

It plays fine, you don't have to tune a thousand things with a thousand tools, modern control style works fine and I can concentrate on "play" and not on "how to control". All over well done, don't regret being a "big spender" at the Kickstarter for SS1 remaster to get this one free.

Star Wars™: Jedi Knight™ II - Jedi Outcast™

Did not age well + technical issues

Lightsaber control is delayed, unprecise, sluggish. Same applies to guns: There is a notable delay when you hit the fire button until the gun actually fires. Quite some of parts of the game are classical "Raven" style, i.e. you waste quite an amount of time trying to find out how to progress after you cleared a level. Technical issues with solutions: 1. No sound on HDMI (especially Intel)? - Toggle EAX in game, move mouse over menu item to trigger a sound, toggle again if you like. 2. Too friggin' dark, and Gamma in game menu does not work as expected? - Edit jk2config.cfg - seta r_gamma "1.7" - seta r_overBrightBits "0" 3. Too fast? - Edit jk2config.cfg, try - seta com_maxfps "60" - or CheatEngine like I did. 4. Aim assist makes you MISS the target? - seta cg_dynamicCrosshair "0" Near the end your fellow jedi fighters are supposed to help you, but they tend to sabotage you rather by, for example, pushing you or disable the traps you set "to protect you!" Let them be killed, and then you can fight undisturbed.

METAL GEAR SOLID

Only if you love console control style

If you are a die-hard mouse user since Wolfenstein 3d, Catacomb Abyss, Daggerfall and so on, don't try playing it. I can adjust, but still, that control type make me feel so extremly limited compared to PC games of 1998, the release date of MGS, that it takes the fun out of it. Other than that: The port is decent, offers high resolutions (up 1600x1200, and preserves 4x3 ratio), the keyboard mapping is usable.

METAL GEAR

Overhyped nostalgia, good port.

Play this version ONLY if you are a die-hard fan of the original game. Two stars because GOG delivers a good working package. The game itself does not stand the test of time, even if we were in the year 1999.

CyClones

Two warnings

You cannot look very far, way below what you are used to. The enemies attack you from the dark view distance fog before you can see them. You cannot invert the mouse. Apart from that the game is fine, but those two points give me motion sickness and I had to give up.

Deadlock 2: Shrine Wars

Some bugs compared to the "Deadlock 1"

The GUI has been updated, but not for the better, only to be different, and they missed higher resolutions (i.e. 1024x768 anyone? Or 1280x1024? More does not make sense). The only part which is better is that you can see the land values at a glance and do not have to click every square (or I missed where I can do that for Deadlock 1). But being at the sea, and trying to get to other land via sea, is buggy and does not work. And you sea bases will revolt since there is not enough space. It was obviously rushed, and sadly it shows.

Deadlock: Planetary Conquest

This is the good one

GUI looks old style, but is completely fine that way. The gameplay is nice, and fair. You have a chance to get into it at lighter skill level, and later ramp up.
