I got this for free as I already own the hacked originals dosboxing, this kex or whatever port is interesting. There are AI "behavior" and weapon balancing a plenty some I noticed some I did not. The maps are expanded which is not a good thing to me most were already plenty big making some last longer is not a good thing. Ok so lets be positive for a minute unlike the Bloodkek port this actually works yay. It does look a tiny bit better than the old dos version. There is a sub menu where you can turn some of the new jank off so theres that. In my opinion this was a wasted opportunity two games that needed quality of life improvements but just got polish and poorly conveived rebalance.
This is a great Doom-Doom2 type remaster. Keeping the good polishing and putting on modern systems. It adds some new content new music and controller support.
I like this game the comedy is VERY childish or boorish to be exact teenage male weeb stuff. The real problem is in pacing and control, while at a glance it is very simple and rather easy. After a bit it turns into a make this perfect just slide forward stop spot trap dive dodge "none of these actions exist". The graphics do not convey what is needed to be known and you will die a lot because of this. There is also an unfinished way about unepic which may be intentional but it detracts. Controller support is terrible so I had to use keyboard. This is really a sub genre of RPGs which has existed for a long time. Worth a play but I won't worry about beating it.
Ok so I been looking at this forever and thought that it was a survival horror action game. IT IS NOT THAT, this is more of a point and click supernatural/horror adventure. Totally different thing one it is pretty slow and drawn out, second it is not an action game. So further technical analysis, this runs terrible on low end pcs which should not be a problem. IF you play it on a decent gaming rig it runs fine but graphics and gameplay do not meet the requirements. If you like adventure games with stealth and npc interactions this might be for you. If you want an action or survival horror game look elsewhere.
Like the original its great one of Ids best funny it is least loved.
Not sure what I expected but this is not definitive and it add very little outside of the new soundtrack. The NEW engine puts a cursor that is actually an IFF wtf that has no place and is just weird. Mouse look is removed and now you "aim" aka flail left to right with no vertical plane aka useless. The graphical improvements are fine but who cares it is still just 93 doom with a minor polish. Far less than what you get playing Gzdoom which is free or many others, they also allow jumping and free aim. Legacy of rust is just Final Doom 1+2 for me crap master levels that are not very fun with bad balance. For ten bucks if somehow you don't already have them and are not smart enough to get them free sure it is an ok value I guess. Instead do something cool like play the gonzo Playstation version or the weird frame rate Saturn version sure their expensive and not 200 fps but it was never supposed to be.
So the first time I launched this it very dirty crashed. However after cycling a few windows and getting it to close it works fine since. As far as gameplay this is the gold tier version with many options from game version and difficulty and even extra content. What a great way to experience the arcade classics none of the console ports ever captured the original.
This is one of the worst shooters I have played, ever out of hundreds this is at the bottom. I will say GOG did a good job getting this turd to work on modern computers considering it was on PS2 it is pretty old. Essentially this is a really bad dumbed down Max Payne with no style and lots of fake bravado. Mercenaries is the Good game that this badly attempted to add bullet time to. At least it was cheap I initially bought this for PS2 already knowing it was one of the worst games on that platform. The case had no disc so I looked and Gog had the PC version, thank you so much for saving me from dropping 15 on another disc.
