This game is even impressive now so many open world games eps PC ones owe a lot to Omikron. The method of storytelling is dynamic and fluid even visceral which can be weird on senses. As an adventure game this would be a 5 out of 5, technically they do lie about Realtime and fully 3d etc. But a little tech exaggeration is normal in video games and people not looking might not see it. So for the bad news, this is not just an adventure game, it "tries" to be a shooter weak FPS mode and a brawler awkward side view fighting game. Both these modes are poorly done buggy and bad controls, they may be remappable but won't help much. The ACTION elements kinda ruin this game for me and they add very little a simple rail shooter for FPS and a quick reaction for fighting would be loads better. I hope this will get a remake but it would be pretty expensive and hard to retool all the bad out. So glad I played this such a cool time late 90s innovation meets entertainment. However the Slider"Taxi" goes to the wrong address and misses the show. Further critique graphically this will hurt your eyes and while HD res are available it aint hd its 16bit and no detail flats over polys.
I own this for real but of course it does not work being a windows 95 game. So figured I would buy this "patched" version and it works looks worse than it did back then but.. I read some other reviewers and their advice which did not help or work. The biggest problem is how goofy the controls are will try with an xb1 controller may improve gameplay. As per usual this is an overly gory, cryptic and dark humor ridden game classic Raven. You play Slade hes a dude with a shotgun he shoots people and makes bad one liners pretty much constantly. your enemies are a range of semi humans mutants cyborgs and eventually robots if memory serves. There is a good deal of metroid vania type easter egg hunting to complete areas.
And this is a very good thing, keeping themes and some detail but adding tons and very close to original content. This game is much more available for people who want to play a Scifi shooter with horror and hi tech gadgetry. You play a Cyborg now you can be a girl, options are optional. The loot or resources if you like are much more ready and usable. I have only done a bit of cyberspace but it is awesome, and irl hacking or rigging is pretty good too. I love the more open expansive areas and exploration all the while you can look out a window and see space or the station and instantly feel claustrophobic. Weapons also seem very improved and like it says above plays like a shooter so more fun in combat. I had to upgrade my pc but that won't be a problem for most, once you meet reqs it runs well. I will say I love the original and the sequel so I am probably biased
If I was being critical the controls are sluggish and you get stuck on stuff, graphics are ok for the time. Sound and music are campy but somewhat effective acting is bad as expect for game fmvs. But if you give this game 15-20 minutes you find the gameplay is compelling and dynamic and fairly original at the time. The Atmo grows and will creep you out so thumbs up there. Ammo, weapons and pickups work fine and hidden stashes are a fun part of boomer shooters. I wish I took a break from Duke3d back in the day and played this some it is great! Warning this is not a game everyone will like it is a horror theme fps so dark gory and weird humor.
Yep going hard this is an amazing remaster and compilation of pretty much all the official addons and N64 game which is a side story. I have beaten Both PC and 64 campaigns and it was just as fun and challenging as in the 90s. Ok the reason for this is the AI has been super charged also some new scripted sequences and graphics nicely redone. I got full music or most of it for all 4 main games think Call of Machine re uses main game music. This runs flawlessly on windows 8.1 even though it says win 10 or bust. My only gripe is the achievments don't update or carry over from different computers.
I downloaded this AM been playing all day on off time, very fun experience. I am saddened to find out this is a Unity game, not some genius update of a classic engine. Gameplay is good esp for an early access game which promises to add more to it. I have to admit some of the lever pulling is more throw out than throw back. Love the secrets and built in speed run score attack modes. Currently stuck in the Mourning skull puzzle, Ultimately gameplay is 5/5 level design is 3/5 fun factor is 4. I also expected more humor but maybe that builds later.
Just tried the other version on here and this is much better even the old Dos one lol. I once had the win 32 version which had 3d acceleration but can't find it any more. So much fun and straight forward fast paced 3d platforming with lots of 2d sprites etc. Not noticed much other than the menu screen being different from Powerslave NTSC and this Exhumed Pal. As stated use one of the 3d engine upgrades or play it on a win 98 machine Dosbox does not work well. You will be alt tabbing yourself to oblivion, I somehow entered the keystroke to rotate display.
Well I see people love this repetitive, small and not 3d lol game it's not for me. Maybe if I had played it back then nostalgia is a powerful thing. Also this version is pretty buggy took 20mins of fiddling with every setting to get graphics to stop flickering and artifacting. No ammo replaced with weapon power and most pickups look the same and spawn slowly and randomly. To each their own I prefer the average PC "Build engine" game more fun bigger levels better platforming and cave diving.
I am a huge fan of the genre which this original version started far as I know. Post Apoc and almost no fantasy or magic scifi and real world items and situations. As far as this version it is pretty good though it looks like it should have came out in 2000 not 2020. I have encountered only 2 bugs in 3 hours of gameplay that is not bad guess some were ironed out. In my opinion all the stuff it adds is great and it plays deep down like the old DOS game.
