Fun slow paced casual building and expanding
Previously I never managed to get this game to run smoothly, but recently tried again and it works like a charm on windows 10. Check some different settings and see if they work for you. The game is janky as hell even when it runs but it's still a lot of fun. I don't think it ran this smoothly even in the 90s so as the title says, if you get it to run you will definitely have a lot of fun in this tactical combat!
Why haven't devs learned from the old CRPG games anything? The game has "tutorials" that teach nothing useful but throws complex fights at you from the start without any useful information.
Technically the game works well, the changes and updates to the engine really improve the gameplay and graphics. Only problem: Icewind Dales are not quite as good as Baldur's Gate, since they have very few character interactions that are not simply quest related. No party banter or romances. This is a shame.
The gameplay is fun, combat works fine and characters are really interesting. Unfortunately the game is very buggy and there are some ghastly design choices that make it incredibly frustrating to play this game.
There is no tutorial and the documentation is scarce and poorly done. Game doesn't explain anything properly even some useful tooltips would have been appreciated.
Stopped saving my games after almost 8 hours, lost all my progress. Uninstalled and will not try again until it is saved to be functional. Extremely disappointed having spent hard earned money.
I enjoyed this game a lot. The new visual style does way more justice to the original Larry than most of the sequels. Humour is funny and the puzzles enjoyable. I only got completely stumped a few times and the solutions did make sense in the end. Bit of a shame about the ending, but I guess Larry got what he deserved.
