I am trying to like this game. It has some great ideas and potential, but; The economy is broken. Sustainability of owning a farm, even a small one is non-existent. Wildlife is too "sponge-y" For a game that starts with kicking an alcohol addiction, there are too many things locked behind getting drunk, and the most lucrative ROI is centered around alcohol... The game story and setting is poorly written and needs to be looked at again. The developers should talk to people who have farms, for either personal use as a way to sustain themselves, augment income or as a business. Things feel a bit too grind-y to the point of frustration. If you want to support the devs, go ahead and buy the game, but I would reconsider until a few more updates happen. Again, this was rushed. The last time I bought a game "In Development" like this, rushed to release outside of closed beta and testing; the devs made three updates, a month apart each and then dropped support and vanished.
If credentials mean anything; I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember. From my father's Commodore 64, all the way now (born in 1982). CRPGs, Roguelikes and dungeons crawls are my favorites. I enjoyed this game for what is on offer at the moment. Only one thing made me not play more than the 30 minutes I spent on it. I died. And went back a good bit of progress. If this was a permadeath thing, I wouldn't be unhappy. But it allowed me to resurrect at some kind of checkpoint. With all progress lost, and not able to save when I need to do something else (a lot of us don't have time to play games anymore, Adulting stuff getting in the way), it would be nice. I hope the next round of updates includes some more robust save system. Until then, I have to give 3 stars. 4 would have been given as the current incarnation of this game is fun, but not too notable. My score will change once my socks get wow'd.
