The Sinking City Remastered

True to the Genre

I really struggled with this game initially, it doesn't hold your hand all the time: -You have to plot you own markers on the map -There is no on screen radar or pathway to follow The game also had a habit of crashing online, but I'm running WIN11 so th background spyware probably just drives it into the ground. All that aside, he game is epic. I really, really enjoyed it. Top notch adult game which definitely had me on edge. The fidelity to the genre was incredible. The art, monsters, creepy background and madness swells were incredibly well done. The story and sideline quests (I found) were awesome. I just wish there could be a little more interaction with some of the NPCs, but I really can't fault this game. Best Cthulu game to date!

Cyberpunk 2077

Good but sadly not Witcher great

Graphics 5/5 Story 3/5 Gameplay 4/5 (No 3rd Pesron view) Voice actors 3.5/5 Overall 3/5

Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron Game

Riding on the coat tails of history

Good: The tech dev is excellent in this game. The known historical events are fun - but railroad you into a very narrow course of action Bad: Hard to follow alot of what's going on, with pop ups everywhere and graphics take up space. The map only allows for one filter at a time. If you want to see weather you can't see terrain, or territotial control or even resources. I have played alot of hours of this game and initally it's fun building the tech and making political decisions. When the war starts its ridiculously overwhelming pop up infos everywhere and no fun at all.

Ancestors Legacy

Crashes on launch

I'm giving it a one so far because it crashes when it gets tot he main menu on launching. Not played it yet will probably return if no easy fix

Expeditions: Viking

Clunky Turn based combat

I'm kind of over turn based combat - esp against an AI. You spend half the time watch the enemy run around and the adrenaline and excitement reachings a scorching zero. The story seemed ok. The ambience was alright - albeit a little soft and PC - ish. I enjoy a gritter game with real characters that have rough edges to them. Not soppy uni students larping as viking warriors. Hard to find a good Viking game out there, I guess. That said I only played an hour then ditched it, came back played for 10min and ditched it again, this time probably for good.

ATOM RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game

If you have the time to kill...go for it

Good graphics, nice setting in Soviet background. I enjoyed playing for a bit but it's one of those games which just chews up time. Running around doing menial tasks to get ahead. Lots of crafting - if you like that sort of thing. Personally, I can't stnad crafting in games hence the 2 stars. Also, the screen is very zoomed in and there is no AI help on the map to point you to where to go. I left the game for a while and thought to come back after a long break. Nothing makes sense and I just don't have the time to read a whole bunch of text and try to navigate where to go - I'd rather go work in my own garden and craft something in my own shed. Probably worth a 3 star rating if you have the time and enjoy crafting.

Last Train Home

Great historical atmospherics

Aa well written story interspersed with action, and based in a cataclysmic historical time. I love it when games(and movies) are true to the period and the place they are set in. I had never knew the Czechs were fighting in WWI for the Russians. It ties in epic historical events that a largely untold in most of the Western World. This game is great if you are curious about Russia and the period of the Cheka and Bolshevism. It had echos of a Polsh novel: Ossendowski's "Beasts, Men and Gods" which is a fascinating first hand account of the flight eastwards from the Red Terror. It's not open world, it's linear, but you are on a train, right? Atmospherics 5/5 - music is great, graphics are good. The language is true. Story 5/5 - I haven;t finished it yet but it is exciting and you do end up becoming attached to your men and women who dies or are left behind along the way. Game play 3/5 - the controls and save ponts were frsutrating at times (wasting hours of my time) selecting men from the map is not easy, which meant I had to hit pause a lot of the time, just to be able to click the right soldier. Graphics 4/5 - The narrative part is told as a mix of movies and evocative watercolours. It set the scene nicely. The gameplay graphics are beautiful. Overall, I loved it. Very educational and entertaining.

Steel Division 2

Best RT Strategy/Tactical game

A beautiful work of art. SD2 has great graphics, sounds and game play is incredible. The learning curve is steep and there are alot of players who are already well advanced at game play. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star is the limited number of maps and the way they have set up the multiplayer game menus. Other than that it's brilliant. Not sure why the devs went on to do WARNO when there was so much more to do here.

Days Gone

Sucked in long enough to miss the refund

The graphics and game play are top notch. Really enjoyed it until this tough bikie talked wokebullshit; we've got a token black man in the gang and we fight with skinheads and I love picking wild lavender with my girlfriend......not long after this scene, they had a whole stop block mission where you had to stealth your way through a some camp where everyone hates you. Sorry, um..... Why do I have all these guns ..? By the time I'd worked out how bad this game was, I'd missed my refund period. Buy at your own risk, and stand guard at the door of your mind.

The Thaumaturge

Promotes demonic possession & fights are shite

The game stared pretty good. I'm being followed around by a dead cossack ghost who died in a fight of honour. Next minute, I'm playing purile games of truth or dare in a parlour and looking to get posessed by a demon. The scenery and time setting are amazing; Georgia then Warsaw/Poland in 1905 with a burning nationalist sentiment smothered with foreign powers There's a whole game in there! Sadly, they went gay and demonic and the culmination of your wanderings and explorations ends up in a wet blanket pillow fight with demonic entities lurking in the background. I bought this game because I thought Poles were making cool games. Tragically, they're infected with bland demonic gayness like the rest of the world, and they dance the Kali Yuga. Refund please.
