Still the best RPG to date and probably will remain so until CD PROJEKT release the next one. Is it just me or are Polish the only people who can put out anything with any depth these days? All other fantasy computer RPG is just so shallow and trite compared to Witcher 3. Must be something to do with Soros' black soul buying into all the other big name brands.
During the day you build and organise your city resources and at night you scavenge the streets. The daytime city build could use a clearer flow chart on what are the buildings and what it costs to make and what they produce. They have it in a list form; from which my feeble brain couldn't bring it all together. At night, I struggled with camera controls early on in scavenging, but that just made it even more challenging and atmospheric. I like the way you can easily get disorientated and lose your way in the dark alleys. Five stars because it was challenging. It didn't waste my time and it was tons of fun. Great atmospherics and a really nice story element. I loved the ending how they retold all the critical events including the shameful and unscrupulous actions I'd chosen to save the castle. :{ I've only played the first scenario and looking forward to indulging more in the wider gamer and editor available. I had to write a review as I literally couldn't stop playing this once I worked out what I was doing.
Wow! This game blew me away and drew me in like no other. Totally original. Atmospherics are top notch and the decisions you have to make are time critical and fun. Do I keep going through these draws looking for something good as the zombies close in? Or do I make a break for it and hit the back door? No, too late! zombies banging on that door too now. I got too greedy. Looks like I'll have to jump out of the window quick instead. Outside, I start running but the brain dead neighborhood is waking up. I jump a fence and smash the first zombie with my lead pipe then run to my car. I jump in and boot off down the street hitting another three zombies on the way out.. I'm safe...no wait! I'm running out of fuel....damn! Gotta stop again and start scavenging for fuel. It makes you use your brains to avoid the braindead swarm that surrounds you. In the end, I got stuck on a boss fight and died too many times to keep playing. I'd definitely play this game again some time in the future. Tight as f***. Can't wait for the sequel.
This game could've been so much fun. I really enjoyed the original, but despite the graphics upgrade I didn't enjoy this one at all. It was like they let the kindergarten kids take over the kindergarten. The firefight mechanics were just dumb. No line of fire and you can shoot straight through your buddies to hit a target. Missions were just the same old thing over and over again with dumb combat mechanics....I preferred the original.
Great graphics and sound. Car driving and car combat are awesome. Hand to hand is pretty fun too. I really enjoyed the 16+ hours I put into this game but after a while, it's just the same thing over and over again. Taking down a convoy, clearing a compound of cannibal crazed freaks, clearing mines or scavenging the desert terrain - eventually it feels repetitive and nothing changes. There are no unique encounters which involve any meaningful dialogue or plot twists, so while the action is good the story drifts and becomes as arid as the wasteland you're driving around in. It was fun while it lasted, but I can't go on grinding - my time is too valuable and the excitement is no longer there.
I was stoked to start playing this game. The Ultima vibes are there and they are clearly good story tellers. Was having fun up to the point I got killed by a rat - could've been a field mice even, I dunno, somewhere at the base of the lighthouse. It happened three times so I gave up on this demo. Sad really, I hope they fix the combat up to be a little more fun than getting swallowed by rodents. I'm looking forward to the release, but I'm not going to jump on it straight away..... I'll have to scope it out again and see it things have improved. (Could've been a skill issue, but I don't get how that would play against me in a turn based tactical combat, where I've been giving one weapon..?.)
Played for about 2 hours. Started ok, but the cheap puerile political narrative nearly had me puking, every conversation I had. NPCs lacked depth and originality. It's like the NPCs are NPCs of NPCs, if you get my drift. While the graphics are good, the rest of the game is shallow and feels hollow. If you like jumping games that substitute zombies for spike pits and you enjoy working with weaklings go for it. Personally, in a world full of zombies just cut the crap and give me a gun. This game was a lame waste of 2 hours.
