Not *another one*?! Ah well, cost me nothing but 1/2hr of my time I suppose. Attempt 1 as a mage, ran into a goblin, "doink", dead. Attempt 2 as a mage, ran into a rat, "nibble", dead. Maybe I *have* to be a fighter class then? As they have more HP. Even though I like playing these kind of games as a mage. Attempt 3 as a knight, ran into two rats, killed them, but two nibbles had my "extra HP" down to near zero. Nothing to use a healing neither. Another unheard rat came behind me, "nibble", dead. Rage quit. Uninstall. Bye. Don't forget to negrep.
It's...... it's....... EXCREMENT! Simple as. The main reason is things like "the Witchking commands and army of nine hundren and fifty thousand warriors and eight billion seven hundred and fifty million five hundred thousand riders" at EVERY turn in EVERY map square when you can barely scrape together a chicken or two. Hyperbole aside, you are outnumbered 100 to 1 by an ultra-aggressive enemy that will STOMP YOU EVERYTIME NO MATTER WHAT. Ignore the lies in the forums, this game is impossible. As it was back in the 1980's on the original Spacky and Commodurr versions. As a young lad I hated it then, as an old git I still hate it now. At least it won't damage your wallet much....... :)

Actually, it wouldn't be if not for the HURRRRRRDURRRRRRRR difficulty. Why do you developers INSIST on ruining games with this horseshit? One of the BS 5-star reviews claims "it is perfectly balanced". BULLSHIT! Your character is weaker than a damp leaf of lettuce even when levelled up to 7 (which is a far as I got before giving up). Even common "thugs" beat the living shit out of you. There is just no fun, and no progress. It is all frustration and tedium. Your time will mostly consist of aimlessly wandering around the uninspiring scenery. And it's sexist, you HAVE to be a "male" character despite the chargen page having a "Gender : Male" box, which you can't change..... like in shits such as "Two Worlds" and "Gothic". Must be an Eastern Europe cultural thing. Bohemian Interactive were terrible with that kind of mysogeny in all the Armed Assault games. Will NOT be even looking at Eschalon Book II and III.

Truly an early mid-90s RTS. - crap graphics - crap animations - crap sound - crap music - crap story - crap UI - crashed with five minutes on my first (and last) play Time before quit and uninstall: Like I said, 5 minutes Still, at least it don't beat "AD 2044", that was 20 seconds! Hello Falran!

it is IMPOSSIBLE to win at fencing, End of. Fencing is the only key to success in this game, to capture ships and booty. You never at win fencing. You never win the game. This is even when choosing the "superiour fencing skills" trait AND on the EASIEST difficulty. So then, the game overall? It's end of! So grab your parrot, grab your eyepatch and stick 'em up your arse.

the graphical style really is unique and good looking, the music is also relaxing. Overall, for what can be an EXTREMELY difficult combat platformer, it adds a tranquil feel to it. But that's the bugbear with this game. The difficulty. It has three difficulty levels "Baby", "Normal" and "Rage". But in this game, those words all mean "impossible"! I have not passed the second set of levels yet. There are also flaws in it's level generation routines, sometimes you will be forced to quit a game due to a jump being impossible to make. I am not talking about not being able to master the finger twistingly awkward "jump - dash" move, they *are* impossible, simple as! The GOG forum for this game are dead, dead, DEAD..... but on Steam they're active! So it seems the developer also has a "FU GOG users" attitude - probably a baby rage induced by GOG denying them the DRM they want. Outrageous corners have been cut too........ such as no re-bindable keys. The "different world everytime" claim is also an exaggeration! True, they are....... but also all look and feel the same regardless, and you'll never get past the same two "Early Spring" and "Late Spring" levels. You never gain any more "power" for you next try with each game loss neither. It needs a LOT of rethinking and redesign - but if given that, it could become a great game instead of a mediocre one.

That's my take on the advertising blurb on this game's store page and the seething miasma of positive fanboi reviews, a lot of rectums have shat many a review here! I mean, How the holy F did this get multiple "Best Game Of All Time" awards? The graphics are ugly, as are the sounds and music, the UI absolutely STINKS, you can not see enemies nor your units inside or behind buildings and the difficulty / tedium level goes of the scale after 10 or so missions. It's repetitive too. It's just a much less cerebral Cannon Fodder type game or rather low quality. Ok, maybe in 93 I'd have seen it differently. I did actually play this in the late 90's and was not impressed even then - and had to use cheats all the way through. BTW I wasn't daft enough to actually *buy* this, it came free. Good job! PS/ Other bad review issues such as "Origin DRM", "lack of American Revolt DLC" and "DosBox" - well I've not seen this "Origin" at all, so GOG seem to have removed it, the DLC is now included, and I don't mind DosBox - no my issue is that it is a poor game.
