Resident Evil 2

Best story of all RE games

It was the first true horror game I've experienced and I will never forget it. And it's the best, in my opinion, in terms of storyline: classic RE, town full of zombies, diabolical experiments and evil scientists with interesting characters and environments to visit. It was the foundation for all of the other RE games that came after that.

The Alters

They have guts to do something original

11 bit is one of a kind and they want, can and do original stuff in a landscape of clones. Just like Kojima. It's sad that their artistic courage wasn't awarded with Frostpunk 2. I hope it's not gonna be the same with "The Alters" which is - after couple of hours of playing it - a addictive game with a tone of interesting stuff, concepts and ideas. Combining strategy and economy with adventure game? No problem here. It's not just interesting concept in its gameplay it is also - as always with their games - a story to tell and questions to ask. I was suprised with this one and I'm very happy with that purchase. On top of that superb dark s-f atmosphere (and true to it's sciene and fiction roots), art direction and exceptionally good soundtrack. Recommend!

Realms of the Haunting

One of my favourite

On the list of my favourite titles there's always gonna be Realms of the Haunting. Game which I fell in love with when I first played its demo. As a longtime fan of FPP genre (especially from the 90s) and adventure games enthusiast I felt that this mix of both in ROTH was a dream come true. Especially when it was told with so deep and compelling story of Armageddon. It was really one the first games which tried to paint transendence and realms of life after death. Like Dante we're visiting Heaven and Hell, we speak with demons and angels. Many interesting ideas with touch of typical English colour palette. Worth playing, worth experiencing.

Shadow Man Remastered

Proper Shadow Man version

Loved this game when I was a kid. Now I love it even more. It never got the attention of Soul Reaver series but - in my opinion - was even better. In terms of story and atmosphere there's really nothing quite like it - voodoo, Armageddon, serial killers and victorian London mixed together. Horror title with thriller and adventure vibes. On top of that Zelda inspired design and gameplay with TPP shooter. It was really suprising it wasn't that much of a success. Also - let's not forgett - soundtrack which is extremally good. I would love to see Remake of this game with modern day technology. True gem.

Baldur's Gate 3

Not really old Baldur's Gate vibe but...

If we're gonna compare it to the previous titles I would say that there's not much in common with them - especially in terms of the atmosphere. But that's not really a problem with Baldur's Gate III because what it gives is superb in execution. You may call this completely different game but still as a game its top notch. What I liked: * Excellent story line * Characters * Choices really matter and they are changing further adventures (!) * Fun combat and exploration * It's not an openworld but still is large as hell * It has some oldschool vibes * Great graphics and music/sound * Great fantasy atmosphere on its own What was not so good: * First impression * Inventory managment and sometimes interface * Too much 'woke' stuff and political correctness Overall highly recommended.

SKALD: Against the Black Priory

Nostalgic idea done right

Not many indie game ideas I'm enjoying - but this one I do. Very classical and nostalgic presentation with modern controlls and improvements brings me to the old times with pleasure. Suprisingly full of text and well written (Planescape: Torment comes to mind). Overall cool Lovecraft with Ultima like atmosphere. Kinda shows us that we don't really need modern day tech to have a great time.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

The best open world - period.

I migh've been a bit dissapointent by the state of game in the early days of its release but its not the case - not anymore. After all patches, although i can still see bugs, i can honestly say its one of the best games i've ever played. Im not really a fan of cyberpunk but this game bought me. I can see that there are areas where it can be better but overall experience is pleasure. Speaking about the Phantom Liberty: its a game within a game. The best expansion there is. At first glance the new area - Dogtown doesn't seem to be too big but it's far more sophisticated. In terms of how many quests we have, how many closed areas (and size of them), how much complexity there is to quests, the story, characters and overall distopian atmosphere - its all there. Worth every penny and simply unavoidable if you want to have full CP 2077 experience. Expansion adds also more difficulty and some great new boss battles. Many of the side quests are finished with somekind of boss fight. In summary: * top notch graphics, music and sound design * top notch story and characters * best quest design * excellent gun play, stealth and combat * overall feeling of enormous city to explore with a lot of details * very cheap in comparison to other AAA titles Minuses? * still bugs - but not crashing ones * to some extent overcomplicated percs system For me? 10/10
