The mod is written by one of the most dedicated, and hardcore fans of this game, and he has written multiple. It's a strong addition, and does pretty much what you'd expect, so while it is more of the same, the fact the game is 23 yrs old, and this man is releasing content is wonderful. What *isn't* wonderful, is the whinging about how it should be free and having to pay for it. It costs less than a cheap pizza, and provides hours of entertainment. The modder has also released a *lot* of mods for free in the past and helped keep an old game alive in the hearts and minds of fans. If you're one of the people complaining about this, you really need to re-evaluate your life choices, because frankly, it seems petty and childish. Don;t like it? Don't buy it. Simple, but don't criticise a guy who has given so much for free for so long. You don't know the expenses of such he has incurred over the years, but I am sure as sure you're happy to take what you can get for free regardless of what it costs him. Sadly, very typical of society now.
The mouse doesn't work on this iteration of the game, being incredibly laggy, slow to respond and in some cases not responding at all. This basically renders the game nigh on unplayable in many cases. Now, the game itself is excellent, but that is irrelevant at this stage, because you simply cannot play it. I ask the GOG community, to STOP making reviews of games they played in the past but not in the current GOG form. It doesn't help anyone looking to make a purchase, because you are reviewing a product as it *was*, not as it currently *is*, and this product, regardless of how wonderful a game it might be, is incredibly frustrating to play due to the sheer lagginess and inability of the mouse to recognise movements. I love this game, I have the original upstairs in my attic in a jewel case, and was thrilled to see it on GOG thinking maybe they might have fixed the issues. They haven't. Don't purchase this, it simply isn't worth the hassle regardless of how great a game it might be. TLDR- PLEASE STOP REVIEWING GAMES YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GOG VERSION OF. IT GIVES A FALSE IMPRESSION OF THE GAME ITSELF AND MISLEADS BUYERS
I was one of the few that purchased this game on CD release (and still have it...), and have repurchased it everytime it has come onto a platform (complete with mods). But this is honestly the best version I have played so far. Its sheer ease of use, and updating of all the little niggly things that were annoying first time round, and the general experience has been improved dramatically. All in all, it is what I want from a remastered game in every way. Highly recommended, and ignore the moaners and whiners trying to bring the review score down, they are nothing but an insult to the hard work and effort made by not only Beamdog in updating this (yes, they *have* done a lot of work, regardless of what you may think), but also to the original programmers and developers who want more people to enjoy their vision and how it was meant to be than did first time around.
