Props to Nightdive, they do good work. And even did us the favor of giving hints as to where the god awful collection of tasks are located on each level. If ye seek nostalgia, it be here if you liked the older Turok games. Also, this was at the height of the "our FPS game has a vehicle in it" era, which is a Triceratops with grenade launchers attached to it, still fun. If you didn't grow up on these games, the levels can get stale. I recommend playing in bursts, rather than a marathon.
God this game is frustrating, the AI pathing and controls haven't aged well. It's taken me almost a year to come back to this game after finishing an entire level only to find out that a mage that has a MANDATORY SPELL TO CONTINUE didn't spawn in, that's after many different attempts to clear the map, that doesn't require skill. Don't let yourself be lulled into the belief that strategy wins this game, it's 100% dumb luck and save spamming. Then follow that up with a map where you have to kill a troll to let friendlies out (you don't know that in advance), and god forbid you use fire wall, because those allies are now enemies, and that troll was already difficult to kill in the first place. Guess I'll wait another year before I try to complete this level, because my blood pressure has spiked to a level of unhealthy that borderlines on suicidal if I considered continuing. Save your money, and just buy a hammer to bash your own skull in with, it'll at least do what the fuck you want it do.
I'll keep this brief. The music is fantastically 90's, and the game itself remains visually relevant. Not to mention that it's two games in one. Don't forget to type DESTRUCT at the title screen. There are other "cheats" available as well. I spent a lot of time on this arcade game, and it never hurts to have a player two with you on this one. Only one computer needed, if you like getting close.
