S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Prypiat - Enhanced Edition

Free original game owners of the trilogy

You own the 3 originals, then you get the 3 Enhanced versions. UE5 gloriously blurred textures - as per usual with UE#. Nothing like the originals that you can play as per the resolution of your monitor. These use AI upscaling. This is how bad gaming is getting and going. Honestly, stick with the originals and if you’ve got the 3 enhanced versions wonder how these are supposed to make money and really the main market is consoles because they seem so easily pleased

Zork: Grand Inquisitor

Class when games were class

Funny, before woke invaded our lives. Shut the door, turn off the world and play before humanity explodes due to overpopulation

Dracula Origin

Great gameplay and story

I’ve replayed this around 40hrs. I just throughly enjoyed it. The powers that Dracula accrues is what makes it enjoyable. A great coffee, late night game. Chill, relax and forget about the mad world outside your door!

Driftmoon Enchanted Edition

simple but very addictive

Unlike RPGs of the past, this you can pickup and play and enjoy instantly. There's no inventory the size of a tome nor spells that 90% of the time you don't even use. It's just pure straight-to-the-point enjoyable exploring and killing! A simple one click attack and they will fight until the enemy is dead and there's a hotbar with everything you need on it. Regardless it still has the meat and bones of any other RPG without the faff. It's like playing a Zelda. Pick it up and enjoy minus the migrain ;)

Star Trek™: Judgment Rites

A classic with the original Trek voices

These games are firmly in the peak of when quality was the norm. The fact the entire crew is voiced in entirety through the game, inc puzzles and the quips that for eg Spook was infamous for just adds charm. It's as honestly good as the Star Trek series inc references to characters that stared in. They require a bit of logic (pun intended) but you can save anywhere. Bad points for modern gamers is the interface requires right-clicking on Kirk and hovering over eyes, mouth, left and right hands to see, speak to, give and use. There is instances when attacked you need to *quickly* click on kirk to get to inventory and access the phasers (green stun and Red to kill) other than that and having starmap open to get to the correct galaxy coordinates -get it wrong and it's a space battle you must win! My opinion is get the series here on GoG. Pure golden gaming

Blade Runner - Enhanced Edition

Get it in a sale. You get both

This is one of these games that if they do a remaster, it has to be as good as ‘Beneath a Steel Sky’. Except it’s woefully not. The backgrounds are motion smoothed out and darkened to the point you cannot see details (it is a post & click after all) the characters on the other hand are pixelated. FMV is passable, the rest is not. Thankfully you can press a key on your keyboard and switch to the original, so if you do tolerate the ‘motion smoothed’ over experience and get stuck, press a key to see a ‘detailed’ background of the original, then go back. The irony is you get both versions, good for the wrong reasons, because it’s best just playing this in the original version I have the CD-ROM version, 4 CD jewel case, it is a classic. It also doesn’t display full screen. You will have a 4:3 black border or a background game still to fill the edges visually. You can control it with an Xbox controller (pc) why? The mouse becomes a joystick! Except it doesn’t automatically go to the objects of interest!! It’s a nightmare. Just use your eye and mouse and click on objects of interest. This is a dogs dinner! It gets two stars because of the original version and the extras from GoG.

Dungeon Keeper™ 2

An absolute legend in PC gaming history

I owned both DK1 (Deeper Dungeons addon) and DK2. When they got 3DFX patched the world could have ended and I wouldn’t have noticed! What makes DK# better than any other clone, is that *you* are the Keeper. No having to babysit a hero you must keep alive. Nope. You build all the rooms as you see fit. Train the creatures and keep them happy with chicken legs ;) Everything is at the end of your virtual hand. Slap a slow lazy creature, pickup a minion to harden a wall or dig for good/jewels. Or pickup up a plethora of trained levelled creatures and drop them at the foot of the enemy that just broken through your dungeon and watch the ensuing carnage -with a possession spell- through the eyes of *any* of the creatures you want. All in the comfort of your damp dungeon! The speech of the creatures from mumbles to moan to excitement is hilarious as is the narrator, who come out with one-liners ‘your dungeon is damp, install central heating’ Paydays must be met, otherwise creatures will leave unhappy through the portal they came through. Find treasure boxes with spells, research new ones, lay traps, alarms anywhere. Ranks of Cannons to blast the enemy. Your choice. Once the lord of the realm is defeated in strides Horny to claim a part of the Jewel representing Horney’s face at the foot of the dead lord. Complete them all to have Horny on tap to help defeat hordes and ever more powerful lords. An absolute PC legend, no wonder it’s in GoGs preservation program. No PC should be without it installed and DK1 “ mwahahaha!”

Hidden & Dangerous 2: Courage Under Fire

They broke the mould when this was made

There’s only a few true tactical fp/3rd person milsims that allow full sandbox control. This was so far ahead of its time. You could set up stealth attacks, ambushes or go solo. Place your squad anywhere either on the map or direct commands and control any one of them individually. They even call out sightings and targets. One command press and they all open fire! Scavenge weapons, ammo etc. It’s packed with replayable missions as they will always play out differently. The only sim that captured this again for me was the original Operation Flashpoint.
