I would describe the game as one where your decision-making is what determines your success, it's not mechanically demanding. There is a lot of room for customizing your strategy, in the way you equip your ship, which crew members you have on it and how you decide to deal with hostile ships. You have to adapt to what you find at times and do the best with what's available. Eventually you may find a trader who has what's needed, so you can buy and sell some things in order to make things come together into your desired strategy. My advice is to start the game with little to no knowledge about it, just learn as you go. I have a lot of fun developing effective strategies through trial and error and sometimes through pure chance, by using what I find. A relaxing game with high replay value, highly recommended if you enjoy these types of games :]
If you like puzzles you will most likely enjoy this, one of my favourite puzzle games along with Portal and World of Goo. I would rate the game medium challenging. The atmosphere in the game is great, simply a really well made indie game :]

It resembles XCOM in some aspects but I must say I prefer this game over the modern XCOM games. Challenging and very rewarding game, make sure to save a lot and learn all the features of the game and your squad members, you'll need it :p
I bought this game and have only done the first tutorials, so far it seems like the type of game I hoped for when I bought it. I always enjoyed games like Transport Tycoon and Railroad Tycoon, this game seems to be a modern version of those games which is a type of game I've been searching for. I'm looking foward to trying all the great mods for this game I've been hearing about :]
