The first part of the game is really great... Lots of things to do, many people to talk to, intrigue, puzzles, original ideas, etc. But the second part of the game, when you leave the big city, is rather dull and repetitive unfortunately. If the designers would have put as much time in the second part of the game as in the first part, or just make a really good game like those who made Arcanum, then we would have a game worth at least four stars on GOG... I think it's worth only 3 stars... I have the original hard copy release, I got it at a low price, and I was and still am content with that low price... Also, I think GOG's price is more than fair for such a game.
It's playable, but far from the fun I had with Total Annihilation. I prefer that one over Kingdoms... I think the original game is much better in every way. This game was just release because of the fantasy trend at the time to make a quick buck. :(
Heroes of HoMM4 is a farce! It was one of the causes of 3DO's bankruptcy. Instead of keeping their winning recipe in HoMM3, they cloned the idea of the game called Disciple (which is tedious and you really don't want to play the game again after you finish a campaign)... bad idea which resulted in this crap. Ubisoft then returned a bit towards HoMM3's idea but included annoying and irritating as well as completely useless 3D graphics in HoMM5 and 6... both games sucks compared to HoMM3 or Legendary Heroes: Fallen Enchantress. :( I feel that HoMM4 is not part of the same series... it's basically Disciple in the Might & Magic universe, and sucks because 3DO changed their recipe for a bad one instead of keeping theirs.
NWN 2 is the best in terms of gameplay, story and design when you compare it to the others with the same name (including the boring action-adventure MMO). The story is immersive, the dice-rolls aren't rigged like in NWN2, and it is flagrant that Bioware didn't touch this one, it is waaaay better than NWN1. They focused more on the gameplay rather than the graphics like Bioware does... end result? A great game that has tons of modding/story telling possibilities and hundreds of hours of game use (play and designing).
Since when this is a "Good Old Game"? It's a piece of crap like so many said. I think GOG should stick to successful games and leave brand new ones to Steam to get stuck with. That way, they have more money to get the licenses of REAL games. Not some wannabes'...
Own it (Steam version) Pretty much like The Sims, RCT 3 is a great update from RCT 1 and 2 (which are pretty much the same in looks). They added 3D, improved graphics, sounds, music, and pretty much everything. Although, the game was a bit buggy when it came out, but luckily for us, the designers fixed it and increased its amount of features with expansions. I hope the sequel to RCT 3 will have a better release than this one... but unlike Master of Orion 3, it was not a big load of crap, you can play and play again just like RCT 1 and 2. Buy it, it's worth it!
This is a good game and a classic. You can't play HoMM 2 or 3 without trying this one first to see where the sequels comes from and what the designers' changes through time. HoMM 3 is best though, even if compared to the crappy Ubisoft version with useless and annoying 3D graphics (always need to turn camera, which shouldn't be necessary in such a game... it's not a first person shooter UBISOFT! Go back making your FPS and leave our great games alone!). Buy this game if not just to play it, then to complete your HoMM franchise. It is a jewel... especially at the price it is sold here!
A good classic. A tough game that is not only based on power but also on strategy. The story is nice too and is loyal to the novel's universe. Worth buying if you are an action/adventure game fan. Character progression is slow though, don't expect to bring down asteroids from space to smash your enemies, that won't happen. But, magic is quite interesting in this game and in that universe.
I just like Heroes of Might and Magic III, so this game, for me, is just adding more sugar on the cake. If I did not own the original HoMM3 Complete edition, I would buy it and not this game. It is still good though, buy it if you are a hardcore fan of the franchise... especially at the low price GOG is selling it!!!
M&M8 is a good sequel, not the best of all times, but good. I think the new things they added are decent enough to interest the fans. The fluidity of the game remains the same as M&M 6 and 7, smooth and steady. The graphics are slightly better, but if you're a fan, you don't care much because you play M&M for the thrill not the looks. I recommend this if you have liked any its predecessors... especially at the low low price of GOG.
