Fantastic World

Incredible game now that the bugs have been fixed.

Shadow Warrior 2

The Trees

Shadow Warrior 2 is fun. It's lots of fun. It's the fun of the good first person shooters with RPG elements like Borderlands 2. It looks wonderful as well -- my 15-3570k + GeForce 680 can play this game with no issues. The trees are fantastically rendered, they really stand out to me as an old gamer. Everything is so vibrant! I honestly stopped playing to just look at the trees for a little bit pondering whether I'd seen anything like them before in a game. I could not think of anything. Good stuff here, going to play after this review is finished. Bye!

BATTLETECH + Shadowrun Returns

Tabletop Mayhem

Battletech is tabletop mayhem come to electric life. Everything about this game is an homage to the original game of cardboard and dice. It is challenging, fun and gorgeous. The single player campaign, of which I've only been through a few missions, is a glorious panic of building up from disaster through violence and salvage. This is a remarkable game and already deserves a place of respectful regard in the pantheon of Battletech and Mechwarrior games.

Brutal Legend

Metal Masterpiece

Greatness in this game. As mentioned in previous reviews it's a mashup of RPG, RTS, combat driving and story, among other things. At full price this game is worth it. At sale price a steal. A glorious steal. It's not an easy game, it will challenge you. It also is one of the few games that has lines that made me actually laugh out loud. At one point Ozzy did something so hilarious I just lost it laughing. Let's not forget that Lemmy is in this game. Pay your respects. He lives forever in Brutal Legend.

No Man's Sky

A Five-Star Alpha Project

I really like No Man's Sky. I really do. I am still enjoying landing on new planets and wandering around and just being on other worlds. I am still enjoying the what-is-ver-that-hill moments. I still laugh at some of the goofy critters I encounter. And I still have things to discover. I really like the game. I also will be the first to point out this game is an alpha. The UI is atrocious, one of the worst most ungainly things that will get you killed before you can use it messes I've ever seen in a game. Your ship flies like a blimp on speed and getting it to land where you want -- without mods -- is nigh impossible. Bookmarks are broken beyond functionality. Way too much was hyped on the in-house demo version that was really more of an art piece than a playable game. You will not find giant sandworms ( though that was perhaps an entire second of a video yet people seem fixated on it anyway ) or charging tree-shattering monsters or frilled brontos. It's hard for me to give this three out of five stars. But as it is now this is not a finished complete AAA product, but an advanced alpha from a small team who are apparently in way over their heads. I think they can make this game shine. I really like it now but it is such a rough diamond. It needs much more polish. If this game were marketed as an alpha program, five huge massive stars of starriness the stars never starred. Marketed as a finished game? Three stars bordering on two. I am still playing it though. Best alpha I've played in a long time.

Redneck Rampage Collection

The Soundtrack Alone Worth It

The soundtrack to the first game is astonishingly good. Mojo Nixon and Rev. Horton Heat are among some of the artists. Even with the dated graphics you hear the songs and darn it all if'n ya jus' gotta grab your whiskey and shoot some skeeters' with yer scattergun. The game itself has more humor than the current crop of comedy games. Redneck Rampage screams for a good reboot. Good luck finding music this good these days, though! Ya darn kids, git off'n mah land!

Startopia

Special Kind of Cool

Rumors of this game filtered to me over the years and finally find it. 1920x1080 it's quite pretty. I look at the date it was made. There are games being made this decade that pale in comparison to Startopia ( I'm talking to you, Godus ). I rarely like RTS but do like management games. I've just touched the surface of this game and am impressed. No idea what's happening, don't care because it's so cool -- it's that kind of game.

Fragile Allegiance

Eureka!

For years I've been trying to remember the name of this amazing game. And here it is. The moment I saw the title I knew I must have this once again. Thanks GOG!
