Phantasmagoria

Below average

Honestly this is not a good game, if you like FMV games you'll be way better off playing something like Gabriel Knight 2 or Wing Commander 3. This games pales in comparison. I'm glad it's a short one though. The acting is not that bad and the overall puzzles and stuff are average, however, the plot is really uninteresting and just boring, the characters have almost no background and it's hard to keep engaged.

X-Com: UFO Defense

Truly a classic

Just wow! Beware the dated UI and controls though, I've heard OpenXCOM solves a lot of issues.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers

Amazing adventure

Not a fan of Gabriel Knight, he's a douche. However, the game is really good in almost every aspect. Music, graphics, acting, plot and setting. A lot of interactions between the characters feel kinda cheesy and really outdated, but if you're willing to look past that you'll find a charming game with a lot of personality and research behind its setting. Learned tons about voodoo!

Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Fun if you're a human!

This game has a lot of issues with its UI and controls. However, the campaign can be enjoyable especially if you play as Humans, they're overpowered compared to the Orcs.

Fallout

Bleak, challenging and fun

Loved the setting and enjoyed this game much more than the second one. The pacing is great and it's so fun to discover what's going on in the Fallout universe for the first time. The characters are interesting and there's a lot of freedom on how to approach quests. The combat feels rather dated, but it's still enjoyable as there's almost no grinding involved.

The Dig®

Totally worth it

This has become my favorite adventure game, and one of my favorite retro games. The voice acting is decent for a typical point-n-click adventure, the music is awesome and the whole style/atmosphere is really enjoyable. The color palette really reflects this feeling of being in an alien world discovering secrets from the past. The story will keep you engaged from beginning to end.

Jagged Alliance

Solid strategy game for its time

It took me a while to fully get into this game. The graphics look dated, the voice acting is cheesy, the game is full of stereotypes and the gameplay feels rather slow. However, after a while it started growing on me, the issues didn't go away, but I had more and more fun as I progressed through the game. Your mercenaries will improve their skills, you'll find better gear and you'll be able to hire even better mercenaries, making you feel more powerful and skilled in-game.

Syndicate Plus™

Great at first, becomes a chore later on

The concept is really interesting, I don't remember playing something quite like this before and makes me want to give Syndicate Wars a try. However, the missions become quite repetitive really fast, plus the controls, the UI and graphics are not helpful at all. I was left wanting more, overall the gameplay feels rather shallow. Give it a shot if you want to play something innovative, but don't expect to get many hours of fun from this one.

Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)

A fun cyberpunk adventure game

Short, fun, and visually consistent. This is one of the adventure games I've had the most fun with, although the voice acting is not that good, the plot keeps you wanting to know more.

Slipways

Relaxing, challenging and beautiful

I loved this game since I tried on Pico8. The music is beautiful as well as the graphics. The gameplay loop is addictive, yet relaxing.
