fun and novel

the games combat system is unique and catchy, not hard to pick up but with enough depth that try hards might find satisfaction in timing attacks perfectly and making good team synergies. the one big catch with this game is that its a hybrid platfomer and JRPG. that can be a challenge for some people. its not overly hard but i know some RPG fans like myself are not good at platforming. if you want to see how a platformer and a JRPG can mix, and enjoy vibrant fun characters and beautiful settings, get this game.

Divine Divinity

A pleasure, requires a little patience.

The game is wonderful and has a lot of charm. I love the dialog and there is a witty and somewhat dark sense of humor all throughout. I very much enjoy speaking with basically everyone I come across. The attention to detail for a game that is about 2 decades old as of my writing is frankly astounding. So much of the world is interactable, and minor details you could not have guessed about are taken into account. It makes for a very exciting experience which keeps that feeling - the sense of wonder upon discovering a totally new world - alive for a long time. Personally, I very much enjoy spending a ton of time just clearing out the fog of war in every location. It takes a ton of time and slows down story progress, but it makes for a fun, short spurt of gameplay at the end of my day-to-day. Thats been very fun and rewarding. If you like Diablo for that sort of mindless hack-n-slash, then this game will work for you too. This game is also just a story lover's game, too, which cannot perhaps be said for Diablo. The only reason that this game cannot take 5 stars from me is that players need to be aware that there are some technical issues that seem to sprout up in the game. There are a few quests that seem to break based on various factors, including just selecting the "wrong" dialog option. Sometimes the camera lock seems to switch off for no reason which can make combat frustrating. Other times, the key-bindings seem to go haywire until I totally restart the game. These issues can be minor frustrations or totally unacceptable for you as the player, depending on your mood. Personally, the unique experience, fun world, and beautiful music and art make up for the problems.
