Chantelise is a true hidden gem. So far I've put 22 hours into this game, and I'd be glad to sink more if there were additional content (there's not). It was really easy to get into and I stayed hooked the entire time. The three things that make chantelise unique are the way it handles equipment, the way it handles magic, and how it approaches hiding unique gear. There are no rules on how you equip things or in what combination, as long as you don't equip more than two of the same thing (item slots start at 2 and more become available as you beat dungeons). Are you all about playing as a tank? Equip all shields and watch your enemies struggle to hurt you. Like physical offense? Equip attack-boosting gloves and destroy your enemies before they have a chance. Fighting from afar? There's magic boosting gear too (lots of it). My point is, the game REALLY lets you decide how to play. As for the magic system, it works like this: there are four basic elemental stones representing water, fire, earth, and air. You can use them one by one, or, by combining them, you're able to cast different spells (spells to hurt enemies, spells to heal you, spells to make you heavily armored). It's unique, and connects into gameplay really fluidly. The last thing I thought was unique about Chantelise is that time attack modes open up for every stage of a level after clearing it. Each segment has a special treasure, and you have to do odd or unusual things to obtain it. These treasure chests yield higher level equipment, shields, and permanent health boosts. For each level, there's a hint about what you can do to unlock the treasure. My only complaint is that there's no incentive to play after you finish everything. There's a survival dungeon, but once you 100% the game, it's more of an endurance marathon than anything else (you'll be taking the lowest possible damage from the majority of enemy attacks). Overall, Chantelise is a great game. The story is a little goofy, but decent.
Broken Age two is by far the finest return to the classic point-and-click adventure games of the SCUMM golden age. The voice acting is beyond superb, the puzzles are delightful but not absurdly difficult, and the animation, though odd at first, is beautiful and has become my favorite in an adventure game so far. The story is quite excellent, my one and only complaint is that Act I is remarkably short. I finished the first act in about 3 hours. Act II is yet to come, I would recommend purchasing the game now because the second act will be included in your purchase as a free future download when the time comes, and any money spent on the first act will go to funding the second act
