It's a nice start and chapter 1 and 2 are really fun. The game is challenging, but you can figure out that it¨'s a stealth, pick enemies off one at a time quickly. If you mess up, the game kills you - easily. Chapter 3 was not fun, lacking info on enemies, invisibilit and your weapons didn't do anything to some enemies. It just felt wrong. Could be the build that was wrong, but with so many options, you shouldn't punish all but one build. Punches above it's first impression and if you like stealth shooter, and/or western horror games - add one star easily to this review.
As many others have stated, it's a Remedy game. The shooting and movement mechanics is like any other game. Pretty boring in my opinion. You have very little reason or background to where and why you are doing things and have to find small pieces of the puzzle as you go. For some games, this can be generally intriguing and truly immerse you into the game. Control just feels annoying and boring. The enemies, the shaodw versions are extremly boring and trite. Combat is by far the biggest let down and why I coulnd't muster any more energy to continue this game. Same thing with FEAR, the remake. I just don't like this type of combat. If you - you may be in for a treat. The setting and the suroundings is nice and I wish I could just click a button to skip the combat all together to find out the story behind the game. Alas, i can not and may have to reinstall one day and try it out again. Doesn't eel 100% optimized and can be a bit sluggish. In this case, look for online guides to help you set up the settings to make it as playable as possible.
There are great music, great sound, great visuals and the environment, the speech etc all shows to a huge love for the Cyberpunk world. Even in the beginning you love it - then you hate it. The games love for the genre is met by their absolute hate of PC gamers. The lack of binding several important buttons to anything useful. Dialouges and interaction uses the C and F key a lot. That wouldn't ahve been a problem - if you had the opportunity to actually remap them. Now you can't. The Raw input is hidden under a setting looking like it deals with a controller. Instead of pretending to show your love - how about shut up about it and tell people what you really think? Get a controller and get in line? Then we can make up our minds about the game instead of listening to jargong about the love of the franchise and respecting gamer. All the lessons from the Witcher series should have taught you this. All the patches, all the complaints the control issue. Seriously, kick whgo ever had this on their table - and hard so that/those persons learn how to do it properly. Right now, what could be a beatiful experience is a frustrating guess what the heck button to press to do this super important thing with. Nah, you didn't understand that the unknown command would be bound to this button? Sorry - you failed the learning - do it again. It's seriously flawed and stupid and should not br present in an otherwise great game. Bugs? Yes there are, but they are far less annoying than the controls in my opinion. Controls are there to give you a seamless and intuitive action into the world.
Poor balancing, hidden dice rolls, stupid mechanics and poor design making spiders the worst enemies. Low leveling and few items makes the first few random encounters impossible to deal with. A pure frustrating game with a scalable difficulty that doens't play well witht eh D20 rulesset. A slow camera, slow paced and none rotatablke map with plenty of trees and elements that blocks your view constantly. It is like there is a good game burried beneath everything, but right now - it's just a pain to play it. To be able to play it and manage a decent run, you have to be a min-max player and also, have a bit of knowledge of what happens to truly prepare for even the first few fights.
Another boring grind of gathering flowers, clunky console interface and most likely a game worth playing if you are so inclined to give it enough and proper time. I don't feel smitten by the game and while there are things that are fun and good, the boredom and lack of information and the micoromanagement via a sub-par interface just don't cut it for me. Too many other titles that are far superior enough to make this something of a true last game I need to finish right now.
Now this game has a lot of things that speaks to me. You have fantasy, horror and TPG elements. You have different dungeons, placement and easy to learn tactics. A bit of base building and quests, new characters. Unfortunately, you have a grind that is silly. You have perma death, which would be OK, but since you sooner or later will lose your favourite characters and the new difficulties won't be able to beat it unless you pump all of your goodies into one prestige, which won't have the other... Yeah, it's a basic damned if you do, damned if you don't set-up and this is called difficult. To me, it simply gets annoying, because like other so called difficult games, in Dark Souls for instance, you could pat yourself on the back after defeating a boss. You could feel achievement for doing the right thing. Here, you know your best characters will require some sex and booze or divine inspired flogging in town to be able to get out in the adventures again. It's fun at first, but then there is just that. Same ol same old. Really a shame cause the feel, the art and presentation of this game nad the basic functions are really interesting, but ultimately. It all feels like a chore and after awhile, why don't I play another game instead?
After trying this game, I get horrible FPS and memory leaks with choppy graphics and gameply. Have tried to obvious fixes and tips in the forum to no use. So, the game is fun, or rather, my memory of the game says it was fun. Now, I haven't even suffered to play more than fifteen minutes and restarting all the time. Check up on the forums for the bad performance and see if you want to gamble.
This game is a rare gem among CRPG's these days. A developer that shares a love and care for their product and listens to their community have improved on the previous game and already in the alpha testing did this game shine. Sure, there were plenty of stuff needed to polish, but with every new release, something was better, and there were more of it. Now, the full adventure is on us and it is already so much moreof everything that is good. It is a tactical CRPG game, with lots of things to do, many things to descover and a good combat system that makes every fight intriguing and fun to go play. Larian studios have really made a game that is worthy of countless of hours and I hope that many people get to enjoy this game.
