Now why did I put a one here? Well, it's to warn people. If you want to play this game, on win 10 and modern computer, you have to read and follow a rather long and quite booring and tedious instruction thread in the forum to get the game to work. That is, a stuttering, slow and crappy version that feels like it's drudging itself from frame to frame and you would think you are trying to run the game on a 386 system. After installing fan patches, widescreen support, putting miscellaneous dll's in various folders and get it all working, the mouse cursor is still slow and choppy. The game still slow and sludgy, but hey, it started at least. This feels abandoned and not much lover from GOG into the currant version, which is sad. Really sad. The game itself is a small unpolished gem of very fun world and a solid RPG with many different routes to be taken. Character wise and game progression wise. This used to be one of my all time favourites, and I believe I will try and keep my memories intact by not trying to get his POS running and ruing my memories. If GOG would do something to make the game work better and run fluent, this is a gem worthy of the 5 star reviews. Now, it is an idea lost in a poor optimisation engine...
Shado Warrior 2 is a fun game. It is more of the first one, but the sheer fun and obnoxious things that felt fresh then feels slightly repetetive and boring this time around. Graphical effects and utilizing the engine with raindrops, lens flares and stuff have taken time from map and architectural base. The game isn't abad game, but it suffers from being middle of the run. Clearly the big thing is playing with friends, optimizing your guns all the time with gizmos you find CONSTANTLY. The cool things from the first game, the Katana and the special powers feels lack lustre and weak. You can simply mash your buttons to get the same distance adn that to me means a bit boring game. Perhaps I was expecting more, but this title feels like they tried to take the candy store back to your place instead of giving you a large enough bag of candy, they are making you sick with sugar....
Well, it is a deccent game. It works fine, no problems so far from running it. It is a bit difficult to sort out everything, because in contrast to many of new games and the King of the series (IMHO) Diablo games, the sort of information that helps you make your choices are very rare and needs to be sifted through. You do learn a bit as you go on, but it is hard to know what will benefit you or your play style in the long run. Fewer and better would have been a smarter design choice in my opinion. Now it seel almsot like they have gone overboard with including as much as poissible and well, there is a lot to this game. But so much you almost drown as a new player and the story and setting is my opinion a bit lacklustre. It reminds me in a sense of the first Sacred game that way. The story unravel's as you play. The many quests you get are really a sort of chance to find the different enemies or items you need to pick up. How to solve them, figure it out, if it feels worth the time. To me, it deserves only a 3 because the way these games ahve developed over time as a genre leaves this game in the rearviiew mirror a bit. A good game, and had it been 2006 and not 2016, i would most likely have been extactic. Now, it's decent as I started. A good effort and a playable game that yields many hours with it's many classes, items and choices.
First of all - the game is great. So great in fact that many other games claiming to be triple A titles just don't add up to this title at all. There is a story that is compelling, intriguing and sprinkled with fun, sad, horrible, lovely and fun side quests and story. It has a rich environment and really fleshed out world to move around in. So why 3 stars? Well, the game is really really unstable giving a lot of players game-breaking bugs. It can't handle factory overclocked graphic cards and I haven't played a game this prone to lag out or crash since GTAS V or Morrowind. So while great and fun and gripping and all - having all these Game doesn't answer bugs is just now starting to get to a level where I no longer am interested in playing the game. There are no solutions that helps getting it to be stable unless you under-clock the card, have to exit a lot of things, have to quit NVidia experience, have to make certain settings - I mean sorry - but the game is like an ill-behaving hedgehog throwing tantrum and the slightest thing off-cue. I do envy those that gets to play this game without the hassles but for me - these bugs are now getting to a level where my experience is severally deteriorating. Without the bugs - this game is most likely not only game of the year but game of several years. I really hope for patches to come and save this title so I can play it soon.
