Cool graphics, baaaad voice acting.

This game looked really interesting story-wise, and it *was* intriguing...for as long as I could stand the terrible voice-acting, which wasn't long at all. To be fair, it seemed that every character except for the two main protagonists had decent voices. I couldn't tolerate the Guybrush-Threepwoodness from Louis Mauras De Richet; it was just too absurd. I immediately looked for a French language toggle so I could turn that on and rely on subtitles but NOPE, I was out of luck. I'm sad that I won't be able to enjoy this unique-looking game. Someone please tell me there's a way I can get the original French with subs in this, lol.

Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned

I'm so pleased to see GK3 here!

Being an old fart, I played all three Gabriel Knight games on their first releases -- they STILL remain my most favorite adventure games of all time. I remember waiting with great anticipation for GK3 to come out -- classic-style adventure gaming was already in the deep throes of genre death at the time, so I wasn't even sure we'd all even SEE a GK3 -- but there it was! Imagine my surprise when I saw that the game was all in 3D. There weren't many 3D adventure games around at that time (and those which *were* 3D -- such as King's Quest: Mask of Eternity -- were usually underwhelming). Naturally I was worried if the GK game designers could actually pull off a great adventure game in a 3D world. It turned out, naturally, that I had nothing to worry about. Gabriel Knight 3 is an AMAZING adventure game, just as strong -- if not stronger in some respects -- than the previous two jewels in the GK crown. The story is wonderful, the puzzles are intriguing, and the return of Tim Curry as Gabe's voice is a very, very happy thing. I thought GK3 was astoundingly good, so much so that it holds the high honor of being tied with the unimpeachably wonderful, quirky GK1 as my most favorite Gabriel Knight game. (Sorry GK2-lovers -- I guess I was never that much of a fan of that old Full-Motion-Video gimmick!). GET THIS GAME! :)
