The Wolf Among Us

unmemorable

I wouldn't call it an adventure game, but something more like a "decision-driven animated series". I don't mind though, after all I'm mostly in for the story. While "playing" TWAU was enjoyable, in restrospection I feel cheated. Due to the minimal user engagement (and thus lack of frustrating moments) I played through all season 1 without any second thoughts about whether I should continue or not. But at the end of the day, the 5 episodes ended and I realized there wasn't anything that this game didn't really pull me in, nor did it leave me with any strong feelings. No different from watching some mediocre TV series or "kitten videos" on youtube: Too mediocre to shake you or stay in your memory, but too comfortable to keep watching/playing. pros/cons: +The graphics were beautiful +the world of Fables seems interesting - I'll certainly look into the comic books! +replayability (eventhough I personally wouldn't waste another 5-10h for that) -the voice acting of the protagonist (whenever trying to appear angry), was annoying... -the story wasn't anything special - that would had been okay in a game that had to offer more than the story, but this game had no gameplay/puzzles/scenery so it was all about the story, it story it did not deliver -you can't skip through dialogs/cut-scenes (and this prevents me from trying other paths)

Broken Age: The Complete Adventure

Tim Schafer alright, just a bit tired!

Contrary to other reviewers who claimed that the gameplay was non-existent, I'd say it was balanced perfectly! Adventure games for me were always about the story, not the puzzles; Puzzles for me were there only to forced the audience spend enough time in a setting, in order to be soaked in its ambiance/world/story. This game was easy enough to play it through without puzzle-induced frustration, but not so easy as to feel like a movie. Maybe the first time in my life playing a game that wasn't getting tiring. The artwork was so beautiful and polished that I have never seen in an adventure game before. I had forgotten what it meant AAA adventure games after Lucas Arts stopped giving us its gems. Not that an adventure game needed this level of polishing to be a good adventure game, but it certainly showed that love (and money) was put into it. If there is something regretful about this game, is that it simply wasn't on par with Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle. If was beautifully executed, but at the end of the day, the 2nd act felt a bit cheap. As if all the story built into the 1st act, didn't transmute into some crazy, surreal, way-off-the-top 2nd act and instead unravelled into simply an interesting and good explanation of the 1st act; more like a lengthy epilogue. It felt as if Tim Schafer, suddenly felt tired and just wanted to wrap things up and go home. In short, a very very good game by all means, worth playing. Just not one I'll treasure in my memory for the next 2 decades like I did with DotT and Grim Fandango!

Primordia

good game!

wow, I didn't expect to be able to play a "pixelated" old-school adventure game and still enjoy it in year 2014. Yet, I was proven wrong! I was hearing the name of Wadjet eye a lot, but now I understand that their games, must be gems! Beautiful writing, great moral questions, atmospheric music and excellent voice acting! Really enjoyable! Thank you!

Lilly Looking Through

short but nice

I was expecting something really really short (and that is why I decided to play it in the first place) so it felt longer than I had hoped for! The game is very cute, and while the puzzles are not very logical, there are some nice ideas. The graphics, the music and the animation is really pretty. While the story is very basic, the atmosphere it creates can be a nice escape for 2-4 hours. I bought it while it was on sales (for a euro or so), so it felt very reasonably priced. However the length does not justify the full price, despite the fact that the developers have put a lot of love in it. It looses 1 star from the ending that was not very satisfying, and the story that was a bit too underdeveloped.
