Full Throttle Remastered

As good as I remembered it!

Awesome remaster! I would had sworn that the new version IS the original that I played 20+ years ago; were it not for the knowledge that 320x200x8bit graphics do not look like fullHD graphics! Extremely respectful of the original (throughout the game I kept switching between the remastered visuals and the original and the syncing was down to the frame!) so happy about it!

Owlboy

A worthy old-school platformer

Very very good old-school platformer game with an interesting story and pleasant controls! The graphics are beautifully crafted and show that even 30+ years later, pixel art has its way to feel relevant. Same applies to the music that is very distinct! Having said that, I'm maybe growing too old (impatient) with games, and the game felt a bit longer than I'd want it to be - not by much, but I wish it would end at 75% of its current length. Not to say that it is "long", or repeated, on the contrary: It felt well paced and I'm sure that a 10-15h game for others would be considered a short one at that. But as I grow older I see myself valuing my time more, so I'd rather that the developers spent their resources in cramming more value of gameplay/assets inside... 5h of game-length. I'd rather finish the game and feel "damn, I need more!" It's a strange request I'll admit it, but hey, Hollywood spends millions of $$$ in making 120min long experiences and we gladly pay the admission ticket - similarly games don't have to be long to be memorable!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

Old School RPG with modern polish

I'm no RPG gamer, I'm an point'n'click adventure gamer. I'm looking for great stories, and fleshed out worlds that suck you in. I never cared about the tactial aspects of gaming, or the grinding - More game content was never good for me - it meant less quality, less unique assets. That's why I never played RPGs. I grew up watching my brother play RPGs such as Betrayal at Krondor, Fallout and Baldur's gate but never tried the sport myself. After playing Witcher 2 though I was so impressed by the story and world that I realized that RPG can be good too! I tried playing Baldur's gate but the graphics and the controls were too awkward to be pleasant nowadays. I was disappointed. The moment I run Shadorun Dragonfall, it felt just right! It felt as if somebody had taken an old classic, gave it new graphics and rebuilt the controls - I was so excited! Being an adventure player, I was hoping for some great story. The writing in this game is beautiful and this makes you expect a great story too. But sadly the story is merely "functional". The game is a tactical RPG, so I guess it's excused, but I didn't know it and I wouldn't had started it if I knew it. The last two chapters become more interesting, but this doesn't change the disappointment. The length is "okay" - I'd rather it was shorter and less repetitive (again, I'm judging by adveture games standards - I'm sure other RPG games are longer and more repetitive). All in all, a good game, very balanced, but not my style!

Dex

almost great

The game was really really good! Very beautiful cyberpunk atmosphere, nice controls, nice RPG and action elements. I liked the arwork a lot and the story was very engaging. I didn't like much the ending(s) since the cinematic(s) was(were) too short and would had loved to see an epilogue. In retrospection, the game didn't manage to make a full circle and complete the picture leaving lots of ambiguities, but while not great, it was still enjoyable!

A New Beginning: Final Cut

Falls apart towards the end

The game was really decent and likeable up until the final location/chapter. Up to that point it's a very interesting, and enjoyable adventure game with a nice message. The animation is a bit poor, and voice acting at times gets uninspired, but nothing that would deter from the overall experience. The cinematics had issues, but still would had gotten a 5/5 up to that point from me. However, the twist towards the ending, destroys the whole game. There is no coherence, as if somebody had to wrap up the production - maybe the English translation was plain bad - maybe there were some missing scenes - maybe the voice actors never showed up for the recording - maybe the team had run out of time or money... The actual ending sequence was equally poorly executed and extremely rushed. I watched a few videos on youtube to make sure that I didn't miss anything! I read some people complain about too much dialog in the game. I wouldn't agree. For me, maybe the ending wouldn't had been so bad, if there was a bit more dialog, to feel in some gaps! What this game really needed, was a proper director's cut, with a bit love/polish towards the end. Sadly, it didn't get it. Such a pity :/
