Quasimorph

This Game is Not Fun

It's top-down turn-based single-player Tarkov. In space. With demons. After 600 hours in Tarkov and almost 300 in Quasimorph, I can confidently say that these games are not fun. They are hardcore extraction shooters where you lose all your gear and loot when you die. Which is *all the time*. Does that sound fun to you? But I don't play this game to have fun; I play them to feel like a badass space merc massacring corporate security details who tried to stop me from murdering all of their employees for trying to unionize...and then using the profits to gear up again and take another mission from the now-desperate corp to go steal trade secrets from the guys who hired me in the first place. There is great progression, gear variety, crafting system, and perks to find. Only a couple of the stock classes are good, but you'll unlock the ability to edit class skills and make one that matches your playstyle. But my favorite part about games like this is that every death is a learning experience. You died because you screwed up. Learn one more thing not to do, die again the same stupid way because you forgot, and eventually get it through your head and become a better player. For the record: they did recently add difficulty adjustment options, so you can ease up on a lot of the game's brutality...but I don't recommend that. In conclusion: play Quasimorph. Die. Cry. Send another clone in to die again. ??? Profit. ________________________ Not directly related, but if you want to see a TV representation of what your badass space merc crew looks like in action, check out Dark Matter (the SyFy show, not the Apple one).

Tomb Raider 2

Classic

Classic game. *The* platforming puzzle game as far as I'm concerned. GOG version runs well. Buy it.

Very Disappointing Ending

The voice acting here is incredible. The actors who played Henry and Delilah get six out of five stars. It's probably worth playing the game just to listen to their interactions while walking through a beautiful national park. The mystery that develops is also very intriguing, but just as it's reaching a climax...you find out what has really been happening, and it is so lame and uninteresting that you almost feel cheated of your last few hours. When I came across this, I thought to myself "I've heard such great things about this game that I'm sure there is another twist waiting to happen after this", but there wasn't. The game was over and I was left unsatisfied by the ending. The true answer to the mystery 1. was boring, 2. didn't make any sense, and 3. has no follow-up. If the game were one hour longer with a cooler explanation of why everything was happening, then it would have been five stars. I agree with the other review that says it looks like they were building up to something amazing, then they ran out of time or money and had to wrap it up, so they just threw something together last second.

SKYHILL

Sadly, the other reviews are accurate

The game looked really cool. So much potential. I read all the reviews warning me that it did not measure up to its own presentation, but I bought it anyway (on sale, so only a buck or two). Come to find out that your success is 110% RNG. There's literally no reasonable choice you can make to increase your survivability. Just hope you find medkits and food in every single cabinet...which you won't. It's a shame because a bit of balance tweaking and favoring of skill, choices, resource management, etc. could salvage this game, but as the other reviews are from years ago, I assume these changes will not come. I don't regret spending a dollar on it, but I wouldn't recommend it for a higher price than that.
