I don't have to invent sorts of crop or cows in the modern era!. WTF? The tech tree is just gimicky and doesn't look fun at all. Older games didn't need that. Now if they techtree was more selective like "okay you reach the 80s and now you get to build synthesizer" but you can advance in quality or price or something, maybe a techtree for low cost modells or high end. It would make more sense. Or research technology like genetic crops and improved watering methods. That would be nice!. But not like researching basic stuff. It is so dumb and only makes this game very shallow as a censequence.
Yes the artstyle, well besides the artstyle which is of course unique and thus can't fail. But the dificulty is brutal. I am sorry I have a life, I just wanna finish a game sometimes. Yes I like a good chalange, and I would totally go back and beat this game on brutal dificulty but I wanan get trough it at least once. Also it is unfair, two things sometimes the attacks are horribly telegraphed, meaning you don't know when someone hits you, or it tells you but you can't pin pount down the timing. Sometimes things than can hit you go ofscreen even trough that rarely happened. But always there are no fully defined pattern. I am sorry but if clouds span randomly or an attak seems to come randomly that is just a nogo. But the worst flaw is that having a second player actually can make the game harder, and playing in coop should always be easier just for the sake of reinforcing you to play with other people. If you compare that game with contra or metal slug, you will notice one thing! Metal slug has unlimited lives those days and even contra had the Konami code to give you 30 lifes!. You where able to cheat if you are not as good in a game. Also back than beating a game meant something because you couldn't just watch let's player or read a walktrough to get trough the game but today it is just frustrating. Well that is all in my opinion of course.
Well no but it is exactly that, a Serious Sam clone and quite a fun one of it. This is a game you can quickly play in your lunch break for a round and if you know serious sam, meaning you get into a room and shoot every enemy in the face for the door to be opened, than you know this game. The main difference is the protagonist and than you can climb up when you push yourself against ledges, it is so quick and smooth that it really makes the game better. Honestly I would give it 5 stars if it had more variations, some wider open level. But if you want nothing but a timewaster where you only need skill than I can recommand this. It is a go back timewaster for me for sure!.
It is a splendid game, it suprises me most how well crafted this piece of art is since this is the third time this company makes such a gorgious game. I even like it better than transistor but the gameplay!. The gameplay is bad!. And it is not even bad for the right reasons. Everything is there! And wouldn't this be a game with great visuals and a nice story it would be the death of it. And it is only because of the delay, everythign seems to happen deleaded or it doesn't react in certain moments. I am not talking about charge up times more like when you make the enemy drop the ball you cannot act until the slow motion is done. That is all, it is just slightly delayed controlls which makes me wonder why they even include a 4th difficulty. I think if there was simple easy, normal and hard I wouldn't even bo so bothered but the inclusion of a super hard mode makes me wonder if they thought that was good gameplay. Now, now bastion had its problems too in that department but transistor was an exelent game in that regard. So now you know if a slight delay us all that is wrong with this game. Than you know how recommendable the rest is, farewell may dear reader!.
Firstg of, what a blessing that this game isn't made by germans. German Point and Click games are always cryptic to no end and often some solution which seems super logical isn't the solution just because. I also liked the help system even trough I wouldn't have needed it, only a nice way to not get bored down. The puzzles where fairly enjoyable and easy enough so that you don't need a walktrough all the way trough. The world that was presented was cutsy and colorful and coudln't have more joyous vibes, even with the bitterns here and there. But that actually makes it so enjoyable even it seemed more aimed for kids. But like all great work for kids it has death in it, this wholesome view on life is what makes this game stick on you as many works before. So they story was great but the trouble is that it is to short for its own good. It really shold be a bit lenghtier here and there, maybe half an hour more playtime would have solved that problem. I mean I enjoy sweet and short but yeah it is kinda hard to give it 5 stars now.
Now maybe back then it was good. Even trough the whole idea of the stock market was? I mean I don't get it. Who cares about stocks? What about competition, oh we remember all those amusement park builders and their competitor AI? No we don't. And what about those unsattisfied costumers who don't find anything to eat or to drink even trough there are several food and drink stands. Why is the food no good or the drink not? Maybe I could provide better drinks but if I only have shit like the amount of coffein in the cocoa (which is rediclues) or the amount of sugar in the ice, and there are not even any burger huts at the start so I don't know what to do about them. Seriously is allot sugar good or just a bit? No Seriously! You can't just asume one or the other you need to provide some feedbak what costumers like, if you make super sweet stuff in germany this wouldn't work because we often half the sugar while in other parts like australia and usa they often quadrouble the sugar. So which is better less or more? Same with caffein germans need allot while americans need just brown water. And with an interface that doesn't let that much room. I mean you could probably get into this shit and it would be alright I guess but why? It was a shallow game back than, hindered by experience mostly so it was probably one of the best of the time and today it just plain sucks. I rather would replay the later Theme Park games as those where more fun. Or Rollar Coaster Tycoon if I go for a more Simulation like experience. This game has nothing more to offer. But I would say if you want something need for your genesis you can grap yourself a cartridge it is pretty good for that.
Seriously Jimmy is just annoying the hell out of me. Why would anyone like this dweeb? He is annoying, doesn't shut up and doesn't get anything. Which come to think most point and click characters do. But most of them are played as dumbasses which actually makes them very likeable. But Johnny is "just a kid" so he isn't really stupid, he isn't crazy or something, he is just a normal buy and as such he is super annoying. I rather would have played the game as the Marqui. Otherwise the scenes are great and the music is just beautiful, especially the night sounds which are more minimalistic and I just can jam to that. That is what I like to play on a hot summer night. The story too isn't to bad, well it is nothing special and some stuff just doesn't make any sense, it is sometimes only producing drama for the sake of drama. I hate that. But it is enjoyable. So if you can put up with the annoying ramblings of Jimmy and you love point and click games. Wait why writing a review if you love point and click games you already have this one. Since deadalic makes the best point and click games those days.
This is one of my favourite games, that said as a game it is kinda icky! I rather discribe it as an interactive story, which kinda is a game but than aigan in a game you can fail. But sitll my favourite game of all, I especially like how much I can somehow relate to mae, knowing how it is to bew a teen and all. Even trough I am far from the experience a rust belt child does know, neither am I a punk or really do any crimes even trough sometimes I whish I did otherwise I am the complete oppositte. But it is more the feeling, like I had many of those feelings to of helplessness and of just wandering around living just because I live not motivated by survival or ambitions just by curiousity what happens next. I also love the diverse characters, even trough the leftish feeling gets trough from time to time, which is partly because the anticapitalista one of the game devs is, they kept it to a minimum. And further more most of the political topics they discuss (I mean actually policial topics, "eff the cops" is not political) is something we all, left and right or diagonal, can relate to. I really hate hte endgame, if I could skip the endgame just the last two hours excluding the last day I really would be happy. Because the whole ghost story sucks!. I rather jump around and talk to random people.
Seriously you can even buy this game on full price, (considering you are an adult of course, but this game would be USK 18 anyway trough). Well this game is awesome, the artstyle is great. When I first saw this game I must have squinted a bnit because I remember pixel art. Far from! Allot of paper like textures which makes it a real eye candy. Now there is nothing agaisnt pixelart but this HD 2D Style is just easy on the eyes, true eye candy of our time. The gameplay is fun and forgiving enough. The game must have ben seriously tested and the level design is awesome, which is a necesity with games like this. The only crime this game does, if it can be considered a crime, is not to give you the option to purchase the soundtrack, well not on GOG at least. Because the soundtrack is ciller, I would discribe it as a mix out of funk, jazz und psychedelic rock. It is just great and I need the soundtrack so I can rock out at work!. Because I have some serious cleaning to do if you know what I mean.
