This is such a great series. This might be the closest to Trails as far as a continued story line from one game to the next. Yakuza is an interesting mix of serious crime drama in its main story and wacky/comical side missions and minigames to balance things out. It plays like Shenmu if Shenmu were actually fun. Fun beat-em-up combat with just enough depth to it. Great story and voice acting. Starts a bit slow but its worth the build up.
The story and voice acting are great, just give it some time to get to know the characters. The voice acting is 1st rate. There's a million mini games and side quests if you want extra to do and 2 main protagonists. The boss fights are pretty epic. I don't love the controls but overall a really great game.
It's a visual showcase. Everything looks massive and impressive. Combat is fluid and fun. Decent amount of exploration and optional quests if you wish or you can stick to the main story. The characters are well written, voiced, and often funny. Really about as good as an action game gets.
This is my favorite RPG series. And this is the start of a new story arc in it. It took me some time to warm up to the new cast but eventually did. They are a cool group of new characters. Combat has been changed changed with more action options prior to initiating turn based battles. It's fine but am not sure its better than what they had before. The game is long. Probably 60 hours even if you skip many side quests. I wish it had more voice acting. It's very sparse and weird how 5 people can be talking and only 1 of them will be voiced. It's also odd how for an Eastern (Asian) country the announcements have a french accent. But the game is good. The protagonist is more rough around the edged and less of a goody two shoes than normal and it's a refreshing take on the formula. Looking forward to what comes next.
This is a potential starting point for new people. It teaches about the world and characters without you having to have played prior entries. If you like it you can go back and play the older ones. It's exciting by the end but its a slow relaxing pace leading up to it. It ends on a cliff hanger requiring you to play Cold Steel 2. The cast is too large to do them all justice. But even the weakest Trails game is still great. I recommend looking up the SenPatcher online to add some quality of life improvements and fixes to the game. There is also an HD texture pack you can apply that is worth it.
If you've played 1 uncharted game you've basically played them all. But there's no denying that they are beautiful and have top tier voice acting and animation. This is very much like playing a good modern Indiana Jones type adventure...if Indiana used guns.
Your party will progress Lv 1-4 with 2 "real" companions and the rest are mercenaries with no dialogue. The plot is not interesting. You are just trying to get to the defenders heart to warn Irabeth about the demon attack that happens in the main game. There's a cliff hanger ending regarding one party member. Maybe that will be interesting in the followup DLC but I doubt it. I don't feel this DLC adds anything to the game. I'd have preferred if this DLC just added more voice lines to the already very lengthy main campaign.
