Bad Dream: Coma

A Bad Bad Bad Dream

The story is, let's say okayish. The eerie atmosphere and unique visuals are the strongest points of this game, really well done. That's the good part. What's bad then? The rest. The whole gameplay revolves around solving puzzles, point & click adventure games' style. And most of them are completely bonkers. Not only most of the time you have no idea what you are supposed to achieve, you must do that in a specific order, because only when you solve one little puzzle you can interact with some things that were merely a background just a moment ago, forcing you to jump between locations all the time, in a vain hope that something becomes interactive. This is bad enough, but anyone familiar with the genre should be ready for this amount of casual stupidity. But then it's jumping to a whole new level of inanity, giving you puzzle sequences that make absolutely no sense. Did you know, that if you want a giant spider to finish gnawing on a bone, you have to give a flower to some completely unrelated creepy fly, that sits someplace else? To go to a hospital you must first flush a spoiled sausage in the toilet, that's just proper etiquette. Seriously, these puzzles make no sense, solving them (mostly via clicking on everything A LOT) gives no satisfaction. To be fair, from time to time some painless puzzles do appear, and chapter 7 actually does something interesting. But these few good tasks are really outweighed by all of the other boring (like playing a 'board game', where you just roll the die n-times until you're done) and straight up nonsensical ones. Wanna play something with a similar atmosphere, but good gameplay? Better check out the Cube Escape/Rusty Lake series.
