Control Ultimate Edition

Absolute Mehnding

The ending is completely anticlimactic. I wasn't even sure I had reached it. Meh, after a great gameplay

TerraScape

A considerable leap forward

I had tested this when it was still In Dev ; let me say that it has changed quite a bit since then. It was a bit boring, lacking any real motivation to go beyond the objectives, and the world felt empty and shallow. The mergings have expanded the puzzle further, and the addition of townfolk and animals now bring the world to life wonderfuly. I have no idea if it's thanks to the community's feedback, but in any case, kudos to the devs for having caught on the flaws and created a game that doesn't replace Dorf Romantik, not at all : both have a place in your library for close but differing enough gameplay.

Days Gone

Boring game

This truly has to be one of the most unfunniest games I've played in recent years. Everything feels slow and clunky, from menu to turning around. But there's motorbikes chases ! Should be fun ! I've kept groaning through all of them, wishing they'd end soon - no nitro will help you really. There's not much of them, but each time I was like "Ah sh*sh*tsh*tsh*tsh*t, here we go again". The item wheel is annoying, the dialogue is usually dragging on, Deek's character is insufferable, helping random people brings more annoyance with non-ending streams of zombies making them last longer and longer, wolves that run as fast as your nitro-boosted bike, the fueling of the bike, etc. etc. etc. Dying Light was so far ahead in terms of gameplay and quality of life features. Okay, it's a slower paced game. But it really felt like everything was taking ages. Let's Metroid your start by ripping you from your good gear, that's a good cliché to start a game with. Why not leave the good bike and adapt gameplay around that ? The game's beautiful though. Lots of scenic views. Muddy tracks after the rain. Lovely starry nights. I'm not done yet, but I'm only going to complete it because I paid for it.

Forgive Me Father

Starts on fire, then fizzles out

Title says it all : the starts is great, pacing and mechanics are delivered neatly and after maybe half the game, it's almost as if the devs had either no more time, no motivation left, or no money. Completing the game felt more tedious than anything and when eventually I met the final boss, it went so much more easily than some "room full of ennemies" from earlier levels ! What creates such a drag is that past the middle, you've seen it all. Key-door-monsters. Lots of games do the same and remain great ; in this case, it's the level design that falls apart and fails to deliver any real surprises to keep the gameplay afloat. Maybe keep abilities on check for later levels ? Make a better use of the weapon upgrade wheel : as it is, it almost felt more cosmetics than real game-changing. Such a dissapointment. Like someone else suggested, pick the OST instead.

Brigador: Up-Armored Edition

A great game, but...

Yeah, but ! The menu actually sucks so much. More often than not, I've been wondering what some icons meant, and why I played some missions over and over again. But apart from that, the game deserves its high ratings. It's a phenomenal game, the sense of destruction is superbly rendered, you just feel your mechs crushing through stuff. It deserves five stars, but those menus are just so unfriendly...
