Street Racing Syndicate

2000's Arcade Style Racing Goodness

This game came out in 2004, and I’m a sucker for anything 2000-2007. 00’s babes and 00’s music in an arcade style racing game you say? *VEGETA KNEEL* It is a nice trip back to a better time, worth the $0.89 sale price for sure. Quality of Life Improvements: -Extract ThirteenAQ Widescreen Fix into the Street Racing Syndicate game folder. -Change [MAIN] ResX = 1920 ResY = 1080 -JoyToKey For Automatic Transmission: Stick 1 Left: Left Arrow (Turn Left) Stick 1 Right: Right Arrow (Turn Right) POV Up: Up Arrow (Navigate Menu) POV Right: Right Arrow (Navigate Menu) POV Down: Down Arrow (Navigate Menu) POV Left: Left Arrow (Navigate Menu) Button 1: Left Ctrl (NOS) Button 2: F (High Beam) Button 3: Space (Hand Brake) Button 4: M (Map) Button 5: W (Rear View) Button 6: C (Change View) Button 7: Esc (Navigate Menu) Button 8: Enter (Navigate Menu) Button 11: Down Arrow (Brake/Reverse) Button 12: Up Arrow (Accelerate)

Mortal Kombat Trilogy

Kooler Than Your 500 Dollar Sunglasses

PROS -It’s Mortal Kombat Trilogy DRM free. -Multiplayer is available via TCP/IP LAN (better than nothing I guess). -Kontroller support is plug and play, at least with my XBOX Series X kontroller on Windows 11. -Features Outworld mega babe Queen Sindel. CONS -Even on the easiest setting, if you plan on beating the CPU you better pack a lunch. -Jade is still a super saiyan unless you get her as your 1st or 2nd opponent. MKT VS MK1 MK2 MK3 ON GOG If you have MKT are the DOS versions of MK1 MK2 MK3 still worth getting? I’d say yes, if anything for MK1 and MK2, since they are both great ports and play very differently from MKT. MKT is ready to go once it is installed, while MK1 MK2 MK3 you will need to spend a few minutes tweaking the game files and setting up a JoyToKey configuration for the best gaming experience. As for MK3, once you have MKT you can throw MK3 right into the trash. OVERALL THOUGHTS I can’t recommend this game enough, add me if you want to play a few matches, I am not very good, so you’ll probably get a double flawless victory every time.

Tomb Raider 1+2+3

Lara Croft Dinosaur Hunter, A Great Game

There is something very relaxing and rewarding about figuring your way around an empty and cavernous tomb all alone in silence. Of course, there is always the possibility for a pack of wolves, bears, velociraptors, or a towering tyrannosaurus rex waiting for you around each corner. Don’t be scared off by the age of the games or the controls. I found the “aged” graphics to be very charming. The PS1 style controls only took about 30 minutes to get used to, run through the obstacle course in Lara’s mansion if you need to get more comfortable. The old Tomb Raider games are on sale for pennies non-stop on GOG, so you might as well just spend the like 7 dollar doos and get the entire library. Controls: -Click on “dosbosTR.conf” and change “joysticktype=auto” to “joysticktype=none” -Joy To Key: POV Up: Up Arrow POV Right: Right Arrow POV Down: Down Arrow POV Left: Left Arrow Button 1: R-Ctrl Button 2: End Button 3: R-Alt Button 4: Space Button 5: Numpad 0 Button 6: R-Shift Button 7: Escape Button 8: Enter Button 11: Delete Button 12: PageDown

Acting Lessons

You'd Be Surprised

Spoiler Free I played Acting Lessons after playing Being a Dik Season 1 and Season 2. I bought all of the games around the same time, and thought Acting Lessons was DLC for Being a Dik, I had no idea it was it’s own game. Even though it is the oldest of those 3 games out right now, I actually enjoyed it more than either Season 1 or Season 2 of Being a Dik. Acting Lessons just has a more interesting story, and way more twists and turns, some of which are pretty dark. I don’t see myself doing another playthrough of Being a Dik Season 1 or Season 2 any time soon, but I could see a second playthrough of Acting Lessons in the near future. Pros: -A more interesting story than Being a Dik S1 and S2, lots of twists and turns. -Everything is wrapped up in one game, no extra seasons to purchase. -Multiple playthroughs are possible and would feel rewarding. Cons: -The graphics and animations aren’t as perfected as they are in Being a Dik. Acting Lessons Remaster when? lol -And of course, as always……the Steam rental store gets achievements, while us DRM free bros get nada. GOG’s reviews section currently doesn’t know how to process the Greater Than Symbol, as well as many others symbols, so for my Tier List I will just use commas. Angela, Melissa, Rena, Hedwig, Ana, Megan, Leah

Being a DIK - Season 2

The Legend Continues

My spoiler free thoughts on Season 2, as well as my own personal tier list. I originally played Season 1 for the memes and I enjoyed all of the pretend outrage in the review section from people who never played the game, it had me in stitches. However the last laugh was on me, because I ended up really enjoying Season 1 a lot. Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 left off. So if you enjoyed the cast of characters, storylines, and humor from Season 1, then it’s safe to say you’ll like Season 2 as well. MAIN EVENT TIER LIST: Sage > Quinn > Jill > Isabella > Josy > Maya MID-CARD TIER LIST: Jade > Lily > Mona > Camila > Sarah > Riona > Cathy > Melanie > Sandy > Envy > Nora ENHANCEMENT TALENT TIER LIST: Sally > Heather > Arieth > Elena

Monster Bash HD

It's Not Great

PROS: -The sprites and the horror theme are all awesome. CONS: -The game controls like you are holding your controller immerged in a bathtub full of mashed potatoes.

Secret Agent HD

Secret Agent Man

GAMEPLAY The platforming and combat consists of you controlling a very floaty (in a good way) Secret Agent with his handgun as a weapon. You will be using said handgun against a large number of ninjas, robots, and sharks…..the typical enemies of every spy. The levels are all fairly short maze-like designs that require you to pick up certain colored keys to access the same colored door, before you can finish any level you’ll need to destroy a satellite first, as well as find some dynamite to blast through the exit door. Dying or screwing up the right way out of a level happens often, and while this is mildly frustrating, you’ll usually end up being able to speed run the level by your second attempt, and that feels very satisfying. WHY I WENT WITH THE HD VERSION I picked up Secret Agent HD while it was on sale, and I could have got it even cheaper if I went with the original non-HD version. I do prefer the look of the non-HD version graphically, and I could have saved a little extra going that route, but HD perks were well worth the extra cost. Not having to go through the process of setting up my controller through DOSBox, and just being able to plug in my controller to have it instantly work was a treat. DOSBox always seems to force me to use this analog stick, but with the HD version I could happily use the D-Pad. Saving is also very easy in this version, whenever you are on the world map, just press Start, scroll down to highlight the save option, then click the bottom face button. I assume the non-HD version probably requires typing on the keyboard to save. The HD version also has achievements! While I’m not the biggest achievement hunter in the world, you can’t deny that they do add a little extra life to a game, so that’s a nice bonus.

Ion Fury

Bland and Broken

I was really looking forward to playing this game, I even got it while it was on sale for a great price, but sadly it had to be refunded. The game became unplayable at a certain point, whenever I was shooting at an enemy, I experienced what can only be described as having my character glitch around the level. On top of the game being broken, I could tell very early on that this game wasn’t going to be Blood or Duke Nukem, even if the main character was trying her best to cosplay as him.

Worms Armageddon

Concrete Donkey your way to victory

I used to own Worms Armageddon on the Sega Dreamcast back in the day, me and my friends probably put in a couple of hundred hours passing around that Dreamcast controller. A top 10 favorite game of mine easily. Glad I own it on GOG now, I’m going to have to get a Dreamcast usb controller rigged up for maximum nostalgia feels.

POSTAL 2

Insert random Postal Dude quote here

Postal 2 is hilarious, it’s “inappropriate” without trying too hard, which is why I think it works so well. I had wanted to play this game ever since I first saw the review on X-Play back in 2003, last summer I finally got around to playing it on Steam and was not disappointed. The game was so good that I wanted to actually own it, so I purchased it on GOG as well. PROS: -A game made before everyone pretended to be offended by everything on Twitter. -A game made before Twitter. -Features my hero Gary Coleman. -Paradise Lost DLC is worth playing as well. CONS: -The controller support is pretty dodgy.
