Hero of the Kingdom III

The HOTK series is great, 3 is not.

This game turned a fun little collecting game into a chore that has you running in circles forever, grinding respawning resources. These games are the simplest point and click games, yet I wasted so much time just collecting the same stuff. I have been told that HOTK series returned to form after this game, I'll have to find out, because HOTK 3 is quite poor, with repitition galore. Worth playing? One run through. It's tediously bland, with filler in place of substance. Seriously, HOTK 1 & 2 are fantastic. It was 2 that reeled me in, then I played 1 and had a good time... this is just the wrong direction. They tried many ways to make a bigger game, with RPG mechanics... but this really doesn't fit that well without being eye rolling.

Hero of the Kingdom

Slow paced adventure game - worth

This game is great. I played this after HOTK2 though, so you can see where the developers vastly improved the gameplay experience. I actually fizzled out a few hours in, as it became quite messy... however, after a break, I came back and finished the whole game the past two days. I can safely say this game is great! This game will leave you feeling like you did go on an adventure across a fantasy kingdom.

Hero of the Kingdom II

Amazing Fantasy/Pirate Adventure 9/10

This game has no right being such a good game - I embarked on one of my greatest video game journeys with this title. In Hero of the Kingdom II, you will explore a fantasy kingdom with a rich medieval feel. There are light aspects of fantasy creatures, a large portion of pirate themed sea faring/swash buckling exploration, concluding with a magical demonic finale. HotK is a mixture of point & click and RPG. Mainly you will feel rewarded with progress, inventory and brief dialogue. There are aspects of puzzles, eye spy, inventory management and heavy shop/finance menu navigation. I would never have played this if it wasn't given away for free. I will be buying every single HotK game from here onwards. Cons: Lengthy and repetitive menu navigation in regards to bartering. -it would be improved to be able to track a list of required items for X objective Time to 100% - 7.5 hours Rating: 9/10
