Conquest: Frontier Wars

Game wipes out your progress

Haha, in the last mission, if you fail it, the game will wipe out all of your campaign progress forcing you to start the whole campaign from square one. No warning! That is hillarious!

Silent Hill 4: The Room

Such a bad gameplay

I have never played any Silent Hill Game before, but if the positive reviews of this mess is true, then maybe Silent Hill is just a bad series of games, lol. Honestly, do yourself a favour and avoid this abomination. It is one of the worst game experiences I have had among those 500+ games I have played in my life. Story might be interesting, but this is a game not a book! You need to have a functional gameplay, for God's sake! "Ooh, but the slow and sluggish movement, bad camera angles represents depression feeling...". Yeah, humans can justify anything no matter how terrible it is. Nope, this is a terrible overpriced game. Don't get it! I beg you. Don't be a pawn of the mad Silent Hill 4 fans. Only by avoiding this game can you truly save your sanity and the pain to your wallet.

Riven (1997)

Doesn't run on older systems anymore...

Just another old game on GOG which is said to work on older systems but doesn't. Please update system requirements on your website...!

RollerCoaster Tycoon® Classic

More remastered money squeezing

I simply find it despicable that the original games have been removed in order to promote a remastered version of the games. Why not just keep the originals as well? Because the developers want to squeeze more money out of their old products.

Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000

Old and outdated...

So, I actually mistook this game for being Aliens vs. Predator 2 which I had heard a lot of great things about, but unfortunately I bought the "classic" 2000 game which at best is probably an okay speedrunning experiencing. I know it is from a period where story was less focused on, but even so the campaign still feels empty and awkward. It is very arcadic as most missions don't feel connected very well to each other and if you try to understand their connection, you just get more confused. For example, why is the marine constantly being send in alone to deal with a nest of xenopmorphs, lol? Even so, the different gameplay style that each campaign features is pretty interesting and it is really cool that they experimented so much with the different races. The Xenomorph can climb walls, heals by killing victims, is incredible fast, but is also very fragile, so it is easy to kill it with weapons and fire. The Marine is the old school shooter with access to a variety of weapons, heals by finding medkits, but he is also weak in the dark as he need to use flares, nightvision, and the (in)famous movement tracker which causes constant tension when the beeping noise increases in both pitch and tempo as the aliens move closer to you in the dark... And the Predator that mixes both stealth and combat into a unique godly hunter-experience with auto-targeting weapons, full camouflage, boomerang-dish, three different vision-modes to adapt to your environments, and where all marines are basically cannon fodder and xenomorphs are bugs to be squished. Yeah, the various gameplay styles and different type of campaigns are pretty cool, though I pretty much suspect the later games improved on the formula making this classic 2000 version outdated and obsolete in terms of fun. Neither does the awkward in-game videos do much for the immersion as they are strangely acted and most of the actors look like random people taken directly from the street. Yes, it is old and outdated...

Earth 2160

Acquired taste

Yeah, there are a lot of stuff that could and should be criticized about this game, but after actually getting through the whole 20 hours of campaign, I realized that this game is an acquired taste for me. However, getting into it was pretty tough. The tutorial is pretty meek and basically only cover the utmost basics of how you play an RTS. The game doesn't cover the vast differences in how the factions are played and the whole important core of custom building your own units is totally ignored by the tutorial. I had to discover a lot of stuff on my own and even if the manual gives some information, it is pretty rough what they tell you. I managed to get half-way into the campaign before I really considered to drop the game as it seems to feel awkward and annoying to play. However, I decided to give it a second chance as I found the later part of the story to be mildly interesting and after a while I actually started to feel more comfortable with the gameplay, although it still had a lot of issues. The ending is pretty weird and the Alien-campaign feels rushed and incomplete storywise. Even so, I actually felt sporadically entertained, but it is definitely not a great game. It feels more...yeah, like what other says, it feels messy. Yet, it could also be interesting and fun. Addressing a few of the issues that other players had: - The voice acting: I have definitely heard worse voice acting than what is presented in this game, so I would say that is the least of your problems in this game. - The missions are tedious: Mostly true. The design of the missions are pretty repetitive and some levels are actually just replicates of previous ones. - Pathfinding issues: Yes, but it is not totally worse than many other games. - Can't choose all campaigns from start: Yeah, but that is because of story coherence. Worth buying on sale, but beware that the came has its flaws.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown

Old and outdated...

Tzar: The Burden of The Crown is an example of how nostalgia twists a grading. The game has several issues with pathfinding, annoying old school MIDI-soundtrack, awkward building-selection, and unoriginal story. Even so, the game is not decisively bad as it is quite stable, but it is just overhyped and overrated. I am sure it was pretty good for its time, but the further development of the RTS-genre has pretty much outdone "Tzar's" place in the historybook. The game is more for nostalgic purposes than being interesting and different. So if you have already played Age of Empires II, well, then you can skip this one.
