The good: Outstanding Graphics.. Great character/skill/spell development.. The Expansion.. There's an outstanding Mod done by little Neil at the Main forums that rivals even the excellent expansion! ...Uhh, that's about it... The Bad: Sound: The voicework was horrific, like they hired the kitchen staff from McDonalds..While the music itself was...Meh.. Story: Didn't know as I didn't play much of it to even care about it, plus it got lost in the mundane side-quests.. Setting/Game World: You spent the near entirety of this bore-fest on a deserted wasteland in the desert...Literally, while the most gorgeous part of the main map was cut off from single players and instead used for the multiplayer mode instead, the worse part, you can still see it not only on the map but in the actual game as well, WTF!? Conclusion: There are only 3 reasons why you should purchase this game... One, If you are a hard-core game collector, and you need to complete the series..(Like Myself) Two, To download, install and play "Version 1.4a of Worldmerge" mod by Little Neil! Three, The expansion, which you need anyways to play Little Neil's mod! Otherwise do yourself a favor, and don't waste any money on this game, unless it's under $5.00/€4.38 specifically if it's on gog!
I pretty much bored-quit this game several times as I don't starting a game over, over and over again. I am not a fan of rogue games, trial & error game-play is frightfully boring to me so rouge-styled games are not for me...However, the fact that my liking a genre, should have no impact on whether or not that game is an excellent game in it's own right. I gave this game 5 stars because it IS a quality game, from the graphics, control and presentation, and of course to the fact that this game came in a low-cost bundle and not a sole purchase makes this game (For Me) simply a nice addition to the main game that I bought the bundle for! So if you aren't bored to tears over rogue type games then by all means buy it now! Otherwise note my title and stay away!
This is the most brutally honest FPS that I have ever experienced, in that it will make a grown man nearly piss himself in fear even though he's armed to the teeth! To say the atmosphere, tactics, realism etc is top-notch comes as an absolute understatement, borders on outright exaggeration! once you walk out of that bunker, you'll be gifted to a living in a world that genuinely feels like an eastern European country that has been overrun with mutants and environmental corruption. It still feels real enough that the NPCs are still well rooted in reality enough to convincingly form factions and carry on their lives even in such a barren environment as this. I whole heartedly recommend this game! I bought two of three of the Stalker saga on steam for seven bucks, however, once I saw it on GOG I had to get it immediately, and even though I spent $22 for the complete saga, (Well over the steam vers) I feel I got the much better deal via gog mainly due to the fact that with gog you don't need to have an internet connection at your home to play/install your games! I lost my internet connection in 2011 and at the same time got a glitch in my SOC installation, thereby making it impossible to install/play my game for 3 yrs!
..But first I have to finish DL'n it! All 8hours that it takes to Download game is well worth it! Like many others, I usually prefer my games in the real world, right in front of me, yet the fact that this game company has decided to not only support GOG (and their stance on DRMs) by releasing their game on a site that caters to PC players exclusively, but also their active dedication towards their fans as well made me break that preference! To NOT buy and support this game from this magnificent site and a game company that doesn't treat us as ca$h cow$ would be as pointless, and futile as still calling myself "a gamer" if I had! Bravo CDProdjktRed, and thank you GOG!
