Field of Glory II

Great SP and MP

If medium graphics from last generation are not an issue for you, this game is a great way of spending 30mins a day. Specially the MP having championships every couple months, played by turns asynchronically, its like a modern version of chess by mail.

American Conquest + Fight Back

Works well in Windows 10

So I just bought it in a sale and tried it over, as many reviews complained it wasn't working on Win10. For me, it worked flawlessly, didn't have to tweak anything at all. Graphics holding better than I thought they would. Hours of fun ahead !

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock

Nice space combat tactical simulator

I finally get to play this little jewel. It's a tactical 3D tactically combat sim by turns, in Battlestar Galactica universe. Pros: -Good mechanics. Easy to learn, hard to master. -Overall story layer is ok, inmerses you in the BSG universe. -Sound and graphics (for a 2018 game) are ok. Love seeing the spaceships details, with burn marks and damage, or even smoking out. -Variety of ships. Cons: -Would like more variety on enemy ships, or even (go off-canon?) and have more enemies. -Might get a bit repetitive. Play on harder difficulties to get the most out of it. Notes: I bought it over a year ago in Steam and had a refund, because it would crash easily and would always stuck after the last tutorial, so I could never load the first mission. GOG's version has been smooth all along, no crashes or any issue. The DLCs are all in GOG, just not showing in the game's main page. Even Anabasis DLC, which for some reason is not available in my region according to Steam.

Hearts of Iron III

In 2022, way better than HoI 4

So I've played HoI 2, HoI 3 and HoI 4. I got HoI 4 as a gift from a friend last year, but didn't get to play it till Christmas time. Looks nice, the Industrial production changes are good and... that's all. The military aspect has been dumbed down, or simply broken with a bad AI that requires you to micro manage way more than before, that it takes away all the joy from fighting. Also, when you see Poland taking on the URSS and take Moscow within a month you know something's off. Anyway, I was so dissappointed that bought again HoI 3 (I had the CD-Rom in another country) and the expansions. Started with one of the scenarios and then a campaign and although the UI ans graphics are obviously a few steps back, it's simply much more enjoyable than HoI4. Yes, combat requires more attention, but it's not broken ans you are not penalized by not using AI. Also, it's surprising than in HoI3 you can see much clearer how the battles are going and why your units are losing or winning. This is a true WW2 game. I'm spening my 2022 with this and Steel Division 2.
