Knights of the Chalice 2

Best tactical dungeon crawler!

I'm a backer and I played the game multiple times over the last year. First and foremost, you'll not enjoy this game if you don't favor good gameplay over graphics, not they're bad, it's a matter of taste and there is 3 modes: tokens, 2D sprites and 3D sprites. For 2D sprites, you would have to import some sprites from the prequel. The game comes with a powerful module editor and already a full fan-made adventure found on nexusmods. As for Augury of Chaos, if you like The Temple of elemental Evil, Dungeon Rats and other similar tactical RPG, you will love Knights of the Chalice 2 (check the first one too on the developper's website) Augury of Chaos and probably the next adventures to come. It's probably one of the best, if not the best adaptation of the OGL 3.5 (free version of D&D 3.5) with great character customization, extremely hard combat and a lot different enchantments to add to your weapons. On top of this, the difficulty settings are customizable as well. Great adventures ahead and great module editor!

Knights of the Chalice

Great Tactical D&D combat

KotC isn't for everyone. The game can be often unfair so if you don't like a good challenge, you'll probably not enjoy this. Arguably, powergamers can turn it into a cakewalk by exploiting some features but i'm not going to reveal it here. If you can't get enough of tactical combat, you found the perfect game for you, the game, like a sadistic GM, sill throw everything it has at you and sometimes, your party will be wiped out and either you'll reload a previous save or you'll start over. But it's far from impossible, even for a beginner. However, if you're a beginner, you're better be ready to start over a couple of times to get it right. It's extremely fun, few computer RPG pushed the tactical experience this far. Also, the in-game help is even better than Temple of Elemental Evil one (which is quite good already) so you can find answers about everything you want to know. Get ready to explore dark caves, dungeons, ancient towers, deserted cities while getting ambushed by brigands, lizardmen, giant spiders as an appetizer and way more dangerous beings like demons, dragons, frost giants and even a few lichs...

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Classic Edition

A giant scorpion made of clay

Good game overall, underrated. What i like : + Solid Turn-based tactical combat + You can get in position before the combat begins, no cut-scene will reset your hard "work" + The Wasteland post-apocalyptic settings + Great map design + Some great combat encounter design + the Ranger thing is interesting but underdeveloped (barely any support from your faction) What i dislike (or worse) - Most factions, looks like a contest, which one will be the craziest, it's alright if there's a few but it's the majority in the second part or the game. - Some choices given to the player don't sit with me because we're supposed to report to a General and he doesn't have any say in the most important one (nuke) - The itemization is terrible, each time you upgrade your weapons, you double your damage input ... - Too many utility skills and fully randomized containers content - The giant boss fight that turn out to be a cakewalk, why bother creating a unique giant monster if he's no threat at all ? Despite all that, it's a good game, could have been a real classic, still really enjoyable and that's all that matters now.
