In many ways it was a game made for me: I love lovecraftian elements, archaeology, mythic history, and puzzles. As such, I personally adore this game, one that will probably stay with me for a long time. It is fundamentally a walking simulator, by which I mean the puzzles are mostly very easy (with the exception of 3 or 4) but in all cases I could solve them without help, so dont get if you are looking for a hardcore puzzle game. The visuals are stunningly beautiful, although I did get framerate drops at times. The story is great (a lovecraftian game that is less about the horror element, and much more about mystery and discovery). The ending had me in tears, but it felt balanced. The characters are great (some find the constant talk by the protag annoying, but I had no problems with it) and are what make the ending so powerful.
Great DLC, short and and sweet, with challanging bosses. However, I STRONGLY recommend you research what the two endings of the DLC reward you with, and get everything you can from the Troupe before you commit, otherwise you may find yourself locked of actually good rewards, and impossible to test out without starting a whole new game
There are two major elements to the game: The exploration (level designs, NPC's, Quests, Story etc) and the combat (fighting, bosses, weaponry, speels ect). For me the car is far superior in the first, and lacking in the later. The world is fantastic, each map has its own feel, and really makes you want to learn more and fill in the gaps in your map. As you progress each area gets harder but it feels organic, not forced. The NPC's are all interesting and its nice to see how their story archs progress. The overall story is well done (in the classic souls style of show dont tell) and very sad. In terms of the combat, after coming from Cuphead, the fighting feels very clunky. Most the bosses are acceptable, but few are memorable, and quite often when I fought them I was partially battling the mechanics of the game itself. All in all, would recommend highly, but it shines mainly in its world design and exploration aspects, is lacking in bosses (compared to other similar games like cuphead, or the soulsborne franchise which it feels it takes alot of mechanics from)
Excellent game, although the AI may feel a bit poor at times compared to 3. The randomisation element adds alot of replayability. I highly recommend you Install SFR: SWAT First Responders. The mod is a real game changer, massivley improves the experience
The puzzles are great, but even the hardest can be done with patience. The story is good, as it blends spirituality with technology: It leads into questions about the nature of consciousness, the purpose of existence, the nature of Truth etc. Be careful who you trust.
Nice little metroidvania. Its decently challanging but gets much easier when the combat clicks. Nice artsyle, though it can often feel 'edgy' for the sake of it. Interesting story as well, though it is hidden in the souls style of games. Can recommend. The version is up to date so it has all the DLC, no worries
