I really wanted to like this game. Civ-like game in space sounded like so much fun. In reality, it is boring, confusing and buggy. There is no proper tutorial on how to play this only some gui explanation. You would expect something on YT but game has completely changed with so many DLCs and most of the content is outdated. The only good thing that come out from this experience is that basic on this, I should not buy GalCiv 4.
TLDR. I recomend this game. I had fun despite rising frustration from crashes. THE GOOD: I really loved the story in the game. Game take place in interesting times and place not seen often in other titles. Music was great. Combat was fun with reasonable level of challenge. Characters were good. Location nicely detailed THE BAD: Game is unpolished. You cannot load game in the middle of cutscenes. You clip into some furnitures and wals. Autosave slightly useless as it saves when you are already locked in certain decisions. Clues system for quests make it easy to miss prior and miss best outcome THE UGLY: Frequent game crashes Antyvirus reports suspicious activity of TheThaumaturge-Win64-Shipping.exe (part of game files) PDB files in game folder? Really?
This games was fun. I liked a lot of things this game has to offer: - scenery - story - characters - music - attention to detail I really wanted to reward it with 5 stars but it wouldn't be just. Your experience in-game is spoiled by things. - bugs - details in story - endings (yes, extrememly poorly written I am serious) It was worth its 50% discounted price
