PC Port tedious and frustrating to play
This is probably one of the ancestors of Digital Interactive Narrative as we know them with stuff like Telltale games or Dont Nod's Life is Strange or similar... But the game used to be a Playstation exclusive for a long time and this PC port is very very complicated and hard to play with keyboard and mouse (not to mention some possible locking points)... This really breaks the immersion and makes playing the game a frustrating experience rather than a smooth one. You would say that game "officially" has controller support and that's partially true. On GOG version, my two controllers (an official Microsoft XBOX controller and a third party manufacturer's generic PC controller) couldnt be recognized. Even though i had seen on some store pages screens of the game showing control scheme and button prompts for Xbox controllers. The reason ? GOG version of the PC port of the game was not given any controller support by Quantic Dreams. Possible workarounds ? Having a sony controller probably (couldnt test it, i dont have one and i wont buy one just for this game) or use remapping tools to assign keyboard inputs to a controller (but then it's still like playing with KB/Mouse anyway at some points and it shows... sadly) Official Quantic Dreams support answer to the problem ? Add the GOG version of the game to Steam client and library as a non steam game and use Steam client's controller support/layer (as it's the only tech, officially, capable of supporting controllers on PC, according to them). Except that EPIC Games Store version of the game DOES work with any controller, WITHOUT Steam client ! So be advised: if you want a nice experience with the game ? Buy it on Steam, or even on EGS, and/or have (or buy ?) a Sony Playstation official controller... Otherwise, and unless GOG manage to patch this version of the PC port to be on par with EGS one ? Prepare for a frustrating and possibly unfinishable experience...
