Having followed this guy's social media and played the game on Steam before, it's nice to see a DRM-free version of it but it's not worth $15 considering how short it is - maybe 2 hours, most of which is spent on repeating the same battles to grind for stats. The cutscene quality is terrific and it's very dedicated to a niche fetish and style which is awesome, very unique compared to other games of its kind, the battles are fun and the exploration is a nice touch. However, you don't get to much of ANY of this and the next episodes which have been in development for a while now might not even be coming here on GOG or Steam for all we know and, if it is, it'll be censored. Fingers crossed, we get that update! But as it is right now, it's a neat game but it's over before you know it.

I love this game even if I can't figure out how to not suck at driving or placing wiretaps. Even if they remade this game and took out all of the fun that comes from writing down clues because too much is going on or doing cryptograph puzzles, I'd be happy with it drawing attention to the original. It's a lot like Carmen Sandiego in that you first have to learn where the action is and who's involved, then going through the rigmarole of jumping through legal hoops because you need to fill out that dossier before you're allowed to make an arrest and finally having like no time at all to hunt down all of these nefarious ne'er-do-wells, hopefully also snatching up their toys like blueprints or explosives. It's as rough as you'd expect from a game old enough to have its own kids but it's complex and neverending, randomized fun that you can just get a good game going pretty quickly.

Outside of the dope outfit, the weapons you get are pretty decent for early-to-mid game play (the Dragonbane in particular) and will be very helpful so it's not a bad investment when it's on sale for a buck off, which seems to be frequent enough. It doubles as a neat way to support a non-Life if Strange DONTNOD title as well.
