As someone with no prior nostalgia for this game, it honestly could be worse. The game plays well enough, my only gripe is the Ipad UI, which I knew about going in. It's been worked on enough that it isn't a game breaker though. the game itself is pretty fun and easy to pickup and play. I like the fast paced levels and needing to constantly keep my bases covered. If the UI could be worked on more that would be great. I'm also giving this 4 stars here because this is the same version as the one on Steam I'm pretty sure, or at least it was developed by the same people.
I played this game on Steam and will hopefully get it on GOG now. This is a definitly a difficult and unforgiving rpg. I started the game several times after getting to the mid point because my build wasn't good. The game's jank and vagueness are frustrating and I ended up soft-blocking myself a lot. There's a lot of fair criticisms to make about this game, but I love it a lot. The graphics, music, and atmosphere all come together nicely. The gameplay is tough, but once you figure it out, it's very satisfying. Interacting with the world is like a simple version of Deus Ex, and the combat is very much the same. Although there's a lot of skills, combat is a big part of the game, so putting points in any gun skills, health, and some melee is helpful.
Despite its age, the game was easy enough to figure out and I never felt too lost while playing. The simplicity of this game makes it a decent introduction to Heroes of Might and Magic. Although it is very much a product of its time in regards to its audio and graphics, this was hardly a deal breaker and I still found myself playing this game pretty often.
