CARRION

Is it still a horror?

If you are the monster? Not for me, and that's good as I'm not into horror games while steering huge amorphous pile of flesh and teeth is super fun! Beside that Carrion is also great puzzle game where you have to find your way to escape some military-scientific facility. Graphic connects beautiful pixel art with really impressive move animation for the creature. Worth noting that this relase contains free xmass special dlc.

Final Vendetta

Relased 30 years too late

Yet great old school beat em up, exactly what you could expect from this genre in most classic design possible. Maybe not outstanding but definitely worth its price on sale. Training mode to learn dealing with every enemy you meet in game is super useful, especially if you want to prepare for the last boss in boss rush mode.

Gex Trilogy

Outstanding platformers from the 90s

I've been waiting for Gex 3D games to return to store shelves ever since I played Enter The Gecko demo from PC Gamer CD for the first time in my life in 1998. I absolutely love platformers from this era but Gex always had special meaning to me due to its unique semi-adult humor, great voice acting (Leslie Phillips/Danny John-Jules/Dana Gould versions available) and catchy level design full of pop culture references. I'm glad these games landed on GOG without delay in one convenient trilogy but without unecessary changes. New saving feature works perfectly fine and utilizes windows-designed folder for saves which is something I've never seen before, lol. Price may seem high as for such oldies but remember that you are getting 3 games there so it's not that bad. Normally I'm not buying games right on relase but in this case 27 years is enough. Was worth it!

HuniePop 2: Double Date

Way better than expected

Reading reviews I was bit afraid of playing second HuniePop as I really enjoyed first one and most players seem to be slighty disappointed. Well, once again it proves that relying on other people's opinions isn't the best idea. This game is really great despite some changes, maybe more shallow plot and relations and lack of Audrey (Lillian does her best to replace her though). Core mechanics got developed making puzzles fun and challenging while old and new characters got really good voice acting with many hilarious lines to hear. Overall Huniepop 2 feels like base game on steroids and it's really worth giving it a try. :)

Street Racing Syndicate

Easy to play, hard to master

Awesome street racing game, despite feeling cheap at the start. It won't explain you all the mechanics but they are pretty satisfying when you discover them and try to master. If you want to max out all races with respect points it's really hard but if you just want some chill, unlocking cars, girlfriends and their clips it's very easy and not really that much grindy. Cars handle surprisingly realistic! It's definitely not Flatout with nitroing on the corners and overpowered RWD vechicles are really hard to drive. Tuning really matters and it's not only about maxing out all the stats. It's really nice you mostly drive very down-to-earth cars there, not supercars you could probably never afford in real life. Huge + for ability to start with Toyota Celica. :) Technically game runs pretty fine on modern pc, however I have a feeling of some strange input lag on menus. Enter seems to work sometimes and sometimes not. Definitely not a big deal, doesn't affect steering during races. Graphically nothing special, probably worse than most games from that era but atmosphere of early 2000' is just awesome. Game from real men for real men. :) Hard to believe it's that cheap though! Even without any promo. I could price it few times higher and it still would be worth it.

Karate Survivor

Unique approach to "survivors" genre

As a fan of this type of games I absolutely love Karate Survivors. Both gameplay and aesthetic makes for a great experience of playing it. It's like a modern love letter to 80' fighting movies. There's one major flaw though - game is really badly optimised as for graphic it offers. I've been playing Beaufitul Mystic Survivors recently and much more demanding graphic it ran smooth even with whole screen full of enemies. Here such scenario results with insane fps drops, despite cpu and gpu stay cool and silent. I hope it will be adressed in some patch sooner or later because for now tere are moments when game becomes barely playable due to such fps drops. That's why for now I give it 4 stars but it could be 5 easily without this issue. Played on: i7-8750h/GTX1070/32GB ram

A Short Hike

Awesome, cosy journey

Little island filled with lots of great content to explore and have fun with. Beaufitul graphic and audio, interesting gameplay mechanics, especially collecting feathers to fly and hike longer. What not to love in this game? Well, it's quite short but even title states that so it's fair.
