Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition

A bit disappinting refreshment.

This is still the good old Baldur's Gate, though with many improvements. It's main faults are that not everything was fixed already (2 years since initial release) and there are still bugs popping up from previous patches. I never had much problems with the game after I bought it (the initial preorder at BeamDog), yet looking at it from time's perspective I feel really disappointed. Don't get me wrong: it is a solid game, mainly because it's Baldur's Gate, but if you already own the classic edition, you have to think twice if it is really worth it for the enhanced in the title. The new content is in majority bland with an exception of portraits, new voices for PC and the mystery NPC, so you really have to think twice. Finally I feel a bit bad about how the Polish version was handled - though the team had voice overs already prepared, they were not implemented and one has to resort to all sorts of tricks to get it running. Baldur's Gate maniacs will buy it anyways.

Planescape: Torment

Tormented souls

PST is a remakable game. Although I do not like it as much as Baldur's Gate Trilogy, PST holds a special place in my memory. Of course, the game has its flaws, one of the biggest is an imballance between spoken parts and battle, meaning either you speak all the time or battle all the time. Still if one is able to overcome this, what one will is a world full of depth and meaning. Fallout was praised for its diversity in gameplay styles and options. Torment is not so varied, but at the same time, whenever you go or whomever you meet, you will encounter a plenitude of everything. Each character and each place has its own history. Everywhere you will go, you will face torment, hence the game's name. Once you will finish this game, you're life won't be the same.
