I had more fun with this game, than with most AAA games i played this year. Don't let the visuals fool you, once you get immersed in the plot you'll forget the game is monochromatic. Not once i had difficulties to recognize what the game wanted me to see. But i'm also falling into the trap: limiting this game to it's unique look. Return if the Obra Dinn offers an intriguing gameplay that stands on its own. Only thing that I disliked, was that i could't modifiy the controls of the game. I'm a lefty and i hate being forced to use WASD, however that is not a thing that would lower my rating
I realy love the atmosphere of this game. It captures the gritty malign nature of dungeons perfectyl, they scare us and still drive us to dwell deeper and deeper - like old school rpgs (like eye of the beholder) or Diablo (1!) did back in the day. However the most unique thing in the game, the physics based combat, is also the thing i struggle the most with and totaly devalues the game for me.
A solid adventure with pretty visuals. I always knew what the game expected me to do, because the riddles are very logical and never require you to think outside the vox. Only exceptions are the 2 times in the game, where you need to do the same thing multiple times to get a different result. My only complaint is that you'll end the game in under 3 hours.
When i played NwN2 it made me think that the developers, took their time to find out what made the controls of NwN1 enjoyable and then removed it from the game just for shits and giggles. If you ignore the fact that you can't control the game anymore just with the mouse you'll get a descent rpg. i specialy enjoyed the open nature with an old school feel of storm of zethir.
