This game is extremely harmful. The story essentially boils down to victim blaming: monsters are born from traumatic experiences of the characters (and it's like trauma porn in there, they tried to clumsily cram in everything you can think of: child abuse, rape, pedophilia, even the holocaust... you name it), these monsters are then traumatize others creating new monsters; essentially stating that trauma begets trauma in a vicious cycle. (Which is BS, trauma CAN be processed!) And then the game comes to the wonderful conclusion that it's just better if these people die. (It even has a 'You can't always save everyone' achievement pop up in the end for good measure.) Well, eff that. If you are a trauma survivor, don't listen to this game. Really, no one should play it. It perpetuates an extremely outdated view on mental health in the worst way possible. The fact that there are rumors that these developers are behind a remastering/remake of old Silent Hill games is extremely troubling and sad. What The Medium proves is that they have no understanding and no sensibilities to grasp the delicate topics psychological horror usually deals with. Stay away!
