I remember playing this game back when it was first released, and for some odd reason forgot to play it again... talk about nostalgia! This is the 3rd best in the series of "The Settlers" games, with "The Settlers II: Anniversary edition" beating it due to cute animations, and far better graphics! Still feels and plays a lot like the original, and to this day I love to play the campaign missions over and over, on both GOG and Ubisoft versions! Experienced players who own both (like I do) know what I am talking about... (wink!) If only the developers would have kept the other "The Settlers" games like this one...
Omg what on earth is this??? I tried to play the game, being a huge fan of the original "The Settlers" of 1993, and to this day I still believe that it is the best of them all! And I say this, having played all 7 of them! This has almost nothing to do with The Settlers 1 and 2!!! What on earth were the developers thinking when they made this???
Regarding compatibility, I have the pleasure of having Windows 7, which is, in my humble opinion, the best choice for games! So yes, I am lucky! Now, to the game itself... I happen to be a huge fan of the original "The Settlers" of 1993, and to this day I still believe that it is the best of them all! And I say this, having played all 7 of them! This one lacks many things: Organization: The "settlers" are just roamers, all over the place! Roads: You don't make them any more! (the fixed this in later games!) Tutorial: Takes forever - lol Ubisoft/Blu byte swayed ever farther down the road on this one! I am sorry, but this is just another "sequel" which is actually a disappointment!

This is, by far, one of the best games I have ever played, and definitely the 2nd best in ALL the series of "The Settlers", with the ORIGINAL 1993 The Settlers STILL being #1 in my honest, humble opinion (actually, 90%+ of players agree with that!). The graphics and animations are cute, it is very close to the 1993 original, and the AI is not that hard to beat, even though some people find that to be something a bit negative. The only issue I have is that the buildings must be chosen from different tabs, unlike the ORIGINAL 1993 where you just had 1 window and cycled through it, AND that some buildings are very similar, which can be a bit annoying! other than that, I love this version <3 And WOW! It is currently sold at only 2.5 euros??? This is a must-have deal that every RST fan must definitely get!!! Easily 5 stars!!!
WOW! This certainly brings back memories! I used to play this awesome game back when it was first released on the Amiga (And Atari ST), I believe in 1989, when I was barely 12 years old! The graphics were quite good for those times, with 3D rendering and good enough detail. You do need to read the MANUAL to know how to control your units. And you can play it with two different modes: Strategy and Simulator. Ming you, this is NOT an arcade game! And a TIP for those who will eventually download it: go for the option where your enemies do DIRECT damage (hehe), because it is much easier to win those! I haven't bought the game from GOG, and the only reason for that is the price... 12.18 USD is a bit expensive for an ancient game of 1989! And that is the only reason why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5! If the price drops, I will gladly give it 5 stars, AND buy it of course! This game is a classic!
