Mordheim: City of the Damned

Great game...

...with terrible DLC-policy. I've always despised Games Workshop's greed for RL-warpstone $$$. The DLC factions are a great addition though, and make the game really shine, but do yourself a favour and buy when on sale. In my opinion they're way too expensive when bought for full price.

UnderRail

A parallel Universe's Fallout 3

Underrail is the Fallout 3 of a parallel universe - challenging, engaging, and deeply immersive, with tactical turn-based combat, a gritty post-apocalyptic setting, and richly developed characters that make it a standout RPG.

Iron Danger

Rushed and un-optimized, but still fun

This title is definitely rushed, but still a fun game to play. Expect the following: * VERY badly optimized game. (I had to turn it down to 30 FPS manually in Nvidia system control center to avoid onstant PC fan activity and overheating of my graphics card!) * No better equipment item collection - just useables, like healing items and grenades e.g. lying around the battlefield to pick up. * No EXP-farming, your characters level up alternately after each mission - there's no point in clearing a battlefield. * No character selection. During the plot you get access to several characters with different skills, but do not expect to be able to select which ones to take to mission. The game decides for you. * Despite all the negatives, the game's still fun to play as it introduces a very unique time-mechanic to turn-based tactics. Think of it as a constantly active 'Save-Scum' function with 2 seperated time-lines for each of your 2 characters. So the most important part of the game - combat - is incredible fun, well executed and will make you keep playing. Opinion: Worth a buy when on sale!

Exanima

A truly unique experience!

Exanima is highly recommended. Despite still being in development, the game already offers an absolutely unique experience, with both its vast, multi-level dungeons to explore and the engaging 'Arena' mode, where players can immerse themselves for hours, building a squad and advancing to master class. Pros & Cons + Pros: Unique Combat System: "Easy to learn, hard to master" – the combat system requires precision and patience, offering a deep and rewarding experience. Realistic Physics Engine: Every movement and hit feels weighty and meaningful Atmospheric Dungeon Design: The focus on exploring a vast, multi-level dungeon keeps the tension and sense of discovery alive. Arena Mode: In addition to the main game, the Arena mode provides hours of fun, as you train and level up your squad. Challenging Learning Curve: The controls may be awkward at first, but after a few hours, they become second nature. - Cons: Development Progress: After years of development, the game is still not finished Part of an Unfinished Larger Project: Exanima is only the prelude to the planned RPG Sui Generis, which has almost become a "legend" due to its long development and the high expectations surrounding it. No Manual Saving: Exanima uses a strange checkpoint-based saving system with checkpoints that are far apart. Manual saving is only possible through "cheesing" the game, which can be frustrating.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

Way too expensive!!

29.99€ for a game that came out 2001 for PS2?! Why is this and it's successor BG: Dark Alliance II so overly expensive? Even discounted, (only -20%...) still way too expensive. I love both of the really fun ARPGs, especially in co-op it's a blast, but at this price? No way.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

A flawed gem in Tactics RPG

As a hybrid in RPG and tactics, this game does a really good job. The main two characters, the mutants Bormin and Dux are well written and their dark humour just fits perfectly into the post-apocalyptic setting. Exploring the zone is fun, graphics neat, combat works, also the well implemented stealth element is pretty unique for this type of games. But eh. Some hours into the game, one realises that there could be so much more. It definitely lacks of content. Be it weapon upgrades, equipment in general or enemies. There could be so much more, the game has high potential becoming a truly deep tactics RPG,. Concerning Combat and difficulty in general: I started the game on Hard difficulty but soon regreted it. The changes from Normal to Hard mode are brutal. The least concern here is the bigger health pool and damage output on your opponents, what made me come back to normal diff. was the fact that you don't auto heal after a fight and medipacks are not only rare, they also sell for a pretty penny, scrap-wise AND are limited in numbers! Also: It feels like the game wants to be played on normal, as the health pool of enemies on harder difficulties often is too big to still be able to stealth-kill a solo target in one turn. (At least in the beginning hours, where your character's skills are still extremely underwhelming.) As this is one of the core functions of Mutant Year Zero, this feels a bit unbalanced in general. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming dlc and hope for a content upgrade and some major tweaks in balancing! See you in the zone!

Memories.

So many fun hours spent in and outside school with this awesome game back in the day. Ah. The memories. I can still hear the theme of the 'Facing Worlds' map...

Driftmoon Enchanted Edition

It's a trap! A christian trap!

The graphical style of this little RPG is dull but loveable. Dragging stuff to uncover hidden items can be fun, whereas the combat system is just plain dull. Some ranged skills, some passives, some melee skills plus you unlock some special skills just by playing the plot. That's it. On higher difficulties, you might need to kite some enemies and make use of the active pause function, on lower difficulties there's no strategy needed. At all. Probably enough for just a few hours long journey through a colorful world. The game would deserve a slightly better rating, but I personally find it rather sneaky of the two, obviously strongly believing developers, not to tell us before buying their game of the EXTREME CHRISTIAN TONE the game has... It might be a personal flavour, but I am not into any religion in RL and I don't want to be pressed into a religious role by a roleplaying game. The game starts it in a subtle way, but very soon it will bash you with it's christian 'holy mace of conversion +3' into your unsuspecting, unbelieving face. For example: There are items like the 'thorn crown', a whole christian monastery, complete with their wise claims and crosses as their symbol, monks who made a vow of silence and so forth... All the talking is about 'the maker' or 'the Lord'. For me, that's simply too much. It felt like the developers are trying to convert you to their religion. All of it has left a very foul taste of deception in my mouth up to the point, where i simply had to stop playing it.
