Scrapland Remastered

American McGee's Snoozefest

I remember playing this game back in the day but never got too far in it. The world and the graphic style left an impression however that made me want to try the game all these years later. The disappointment was grave however as I came to the conclusion that this game is just.. dead boring! The world indeed is colorful and vibrant and the scrap city looks stunning for it's age but the world still feels hollow and repetive. You can walk around the stations, clubs and places, talk and ask around but most of the handful of robots just repeat the same lines. Why have open world when it's so empty and lacks any exploration? Story characters in the game have funny voice acting but they are wooden and unlikeable. Biggest sin of the game however is the even more boring gameplay: go here, go there, fetch this, fetch that.. The biggest trick of the game is to morph into various robots of the scrapland with various skills and abilities but the gameplay falls flat. In between walking missions you get into very arcade racing and shootout missions but they don't lift the overall experience. Nothing in the gameplay, world, characters and sound leaves any impression to you. Even the simplistic calm abstract music makes your fall asleep. Disapointing and wasted potential.
